Frankly I think Yeti, Bigfoot, Yeren believers are a bunch of wackjobs who need to get a life. Or perhaps a real job. But still, every year new animals including quite large mammals are being discovered by scientists in areas some less remote than the Himalays. As much as I ridicule these folks I'm smart enough to know that one day I may be proven wrong.

The question is worded poorly. "Deserve" is a subjective opinion. China, having sent 200,000 troops into Korea to fight and kill UN Troops certainly doesn't "deserve" to be on PUNSC. If Russia can sit on the PUNSC as the heir to the USSRs seat then it too doesn't "deserve" a seat since the USSR sent fighter pilots to shoot down UN planes in the same war.

Japan on the PUNSC would simply mean another pro-US seat so really, the only current PUNSC members who would be against it are China and Russia. The 5 members based on the WWII victors is a joke since the ROC was chased out of China by the PRC and the USSR is no longer in existence. The whole concept needs to be revised so that it includes far more nations that are signficiant today, such as India, Brazil and others along with Japan, not significant in 1945.

If you don't have anything to say about a photo there's no need to post something which makes no sense vis-a-vis the photo and the only value being that you can say something nasty about Japan. At the very least it ought to make sense and have relevance.

I don't see much of anything in it much less awkwardness. Did you look at their faces?

Yes. This is called "laughing". The two women on the left are laughing and the two men on the left are watching with smiles on their faces which suggests that they are are sharing in the humor. Therefore, there is nothing suggesting "awkwardness", which could have arisen if they failed to share the humor.

Two nations that avoid being nuclear powers themselves by relying on the United States' nuclear capability speak out against nuclear proliferation. Um..ok..

Ah the awkwardness of anything Japan does with the rest of the world.

What about this photo exactly leads you to make this statement? I don't see much of anything in it much less awkwardness.

It's a disgrace that we don't have sufficient human intel in NKorea to know what this announcement is. We should be able to know every time the dear leader flatulated. In realtime.

But Iranians expel USA from their country at 30 years ago! and japanese >even cannot expel US soldiers!

Will you please catch up to reality? Japan isn't trying to expel the US Military. They are there by arrangement because the Japanese govt wants them to be there.

Can you IMAGINE transporting the dithering of Nagata-cho, and the >enmity created between Japan, Korea and China to the floor of the >Security Council when an intelligent, expeditious solution to a real >problem was urgently needed?

That's very easy to imagine. China and Japan now enjoy a close cooperative relationship. Skorea doesn't matter. NKorea isn't even a member.

About the only aspect of Tamura's idea that makes any sense is that it raises the question of whether Japan should sit and watch the value of that 950 billion USD go down, or do something to try and prop it up. The risk is that any attempt to prop it up may or may not be effective, with or without Japan's help. Don't see how the idea is going to sit with the Japanese people but I agree that you might get your hands on the F-22s at the end of the day.

Internationally Japan is a freaking joke.

Differences between anything UN related and Japan are minimal and insignficant compared to the fact that Japan is second biggest contributor to the UN, after the United States. Japan has always been a member of the G6 to G7 to G8. If Japan is a joke internationally, that's going to come as a surprise to the US, EU and all the advanced developed nations.

dunno, people still go to Neil Diamond concerts and Sting is pretending >to be a 1940's crooner, so why not? Then again I won't be going to any of his shows.

True, they do. But neither Neil Diamond nor Sting are equivalent to the non-singing half of the Carpenters.
