Staytune, this article is about China, Tibet and the Olypmics. It's not about other countries and their problems. Besides, when the USSR invaded Afghanistan , we (the U.S.) boycotted the Moscow Olympics. And so did China! Also next time please don't doublescape there's no need and it just takes up so much space. Thanks.

This article begs the question of why these demonstrations at Carrefour is still going on when we know that the Chinese government wants to put a stop to this as soon as possible to minimize the negative effect on the Olympics just some 100 days away. Could it be be that finally the rampant Chinese nationalism may have become too strong for the government to control? Frightening thought.

Very few people want to see China destroyed and buried in the sand. Most of us would like to see the CCP controlled Dictatorship destroyed and buried in the sand. Perhaps in 10 or 20 years when you are older you will understand what being a "Chinese Patriot" really means.

"Japanese society is so exclusive and race conscious it would be difficult for any terrorist to operate without being noticed. One can attract the attention of the authorities for simply riding a push bike the wrong way up the street."

"Tibet was, is and will always be a part of China, even a fool can see that."
Yes, obviously.
"There are 56 ethnic groups in China, Tibetan is just one of them. Tibetans are living happy lives in China, go and see for yourself. Your people are living in dream world. See the reality!"
If they are so happy why did they start demonstrating?

"English is the main international language. That is a fact - not arrogance. Note that in this letter the police identified themselves (badly) with a badge that said "Police" - an English word, and said (repeatedly) "Passport" another English word!"
Just for good orders sake,..both the word Police (porisu) and Passport (pasupooto) are used in Japanese. One could easily argue that the cops didn't use "any" English.

Posting anything from wiki to support China's position is ridiculous. I myself have wasted plenty of hours adding to wiki only to have someone else go re-write it again. Atttempts to claim how much "good" China has done for Tibet are pointless. Imperial Japan took over Korea in 1910 and they turned a backwards country into an industrial one, laying the first railroads and streets. But does anyone today ever even think that "Japan was right to take over Korea?" Of course not. If for no other reason than that the Korean people didn't want it. Now...the Tibetans don't want Chinese rule. Can this be any simpler?
As to the often repeated, "Tibet has always been a part of China" argument. I ask you, was the Yuan Dynasty a "Chinese Dynasty" rather than a Mongol one that controlled China? Because if so, then China tried to invade Japan twice in the 13th century so they ought to stifle it about Japan invading them in WWII.

I agree with many others here. These girls did not conduct themselves properly and created more trouble than it was worth. The police DO have the right to ask to see your Passport. Showing it is easier than arguing about it. And the attitude that the cops should speak English, separate from the fact that they should for thje sake of facilitating their job, is assinine. The title of this article is completely misleading. I invite these girls to come here to the US and give a cop lip and see what happens.

"She's had some of her friends tell her she doesn't love her country and she's a "foolish girl" for simply no other reason than telling her friends that she believed killing the Tibetan protesters was wrong. I told her she was more of a patriot. Go figure."
Not only is your GF more of a true Chinese Patriot but a better human being than those friends. Hats off to her. China needs more free-thinking individuals, than nationalists. The CCP's heavy handed way was fine in the begining but now it's time to move on. Back then they even promised the Chinese people a vote in selecting their governmentr "some day when they are ready". But of course, absolute power is something that's never given up easily. It's up to the hinese people to let them know that they are ready. For that China needs more free thinkers, less zombies.

"I generally agree with your post, but dont you find it somewhat ironic that you're claiming he doesn't get different perspectives despite the fact you're replying to him on a website that is giving different perspectives"
True. But if I admited that I would have to face the reality that I am addressing a person who knowingly and willingly made an educated and informed decision to support a Nationalist Socialist Dictatorship. And I would succumb to name-calling. Ah yes, the i is next to o. fait chier. My typo.
