Wow...so much for China's big coming-out party. I wonder if the CCP bureaucrats who advocated Beijing holding the 2008 Olympics are eventually going to charged with "activities against the state". Those poor people will have counterparts in the IOC. I'm glad I got myself a big HD TV.

True..something is wrong. But when have the developed nations been willing to make the kind of effort that they do so willingly in other parts of the world? Once again I bet we do nothing about it.

The abductions are a Japan/SKOrea/and a few other countries issue. Narcotics is a Japan/Australia/some other Asian countries issue. Counterfeit currency is a US/Japan issue.

"I guess pre-emptive strikes like Japan did at Pearl Harbour and the US did at Iraq are also accepted."

Going from the "right to collective defense" to "pre-emptive attacks" is like going from "having a snack" to "killing and eating people". The term is COLLECTIVE DEFENSE not COLLECTIVE OFFENSE.

Japan has every right and should bring up the abduction matter, regardless of whether any constructive progress is made or not by doing so. Bringing it up goes on record. It's a good valid reason/excuse to keep a governer on any aid, assistance or lifting of sanctions bilaterally. Furthermore, considering…

"Why is it in the crime section? Japan took the island from Russia then lost it during the 2nd world war"

Are you sure about that? I think Japan got the southern half of Sakhalin and the connected islands in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904. They didn't exasctly "take it"…

That my be wishful thinking. Clearly the Chinese govt is intent on improving relations with Japan. Yet their request for JSDF assistance which Japan accepted was cancelled due to the ultra-nationalists and their anti-japan sentiments. Even the just agreed upon gas deal is under fire.
