I joined a gym as it is motivating and the weather in Tokyo is usually not conducive to daily outdoor exercise. Best money spent.
When I lived in the States, I gave up my car for a good bike and never regretted it.
Nice posts, above, too.

OK, naysayers. I really like T.M. The uchimizu last year was really refreshing. The place has a lot of interesting stores, Toho theater complex, and great museums, and possibly the best Starbucks in the world. Check out the outdoor seating. The transition between subway and T.M. is short and full of interesting things and places. Do not know what ya'll are complaining about.

Who wrote this article? Seems to be in the pocket of Noda. This tax increase will not help, ultimately, and makes life more difficult for the rest of us.

As Tokyo is literally surrounded by farms, why are there not farmer's markets on every blasted corner outside of every station? Why ONE in expensive Omotesando? Why are farmers not flooding into Tokyo, where many people fear the produce on the shelves due to false/inadequate/laughable labeling against source and radiation counts?????? I buy from organic farmers, and just local farmers when I can find them, but it is completely erratic and by chance that I find them. Why is that?

Jeez, being comfortable on a long expensive flight is such a luxury that it "exceeded expectations". That will be a fine day when I see that on a flight. How much more expensive are those Dreamliner flights, anyway? WIll these become the new standard, or just the haven for the lucky few with money to burn?

When I was there, demonstrations in the tea ceremony in a private room with a kimono-clad practioner totally wowed my visitors from America. Plus it is a lovely place to hang out in and enjoy people watching. Tokyokawasaki-san, there is a lot to be learned from "old fashioned and outdated" hotels. And Sean Connery's movies were a dream compared to today's harsh realities, don't you agree? No need to thrash the Hotel Okura.

SMAP was really supportive of 3/11 victims last year. Good for them and wishing all success. Downers need not give the usual smack downs to SMAP. For once.

Going back to the US for the first time in seven years. I wonder what I will see. What will the shape of the "bodies" be? Will let JT know. Somehow, I fear the worst. And, yeah, I rigorously work out at a local fine sport club to avoid the USA/fat syndrome.

Coca-Cola working with governments to encourage life styles. Just as duplicitous as cigarette companies sponsoring sports events.

Once when I was on crutches I had to tap the leg of a surly young dude to give me his seat. It was actually dangerous for me to not be seated at that point in my recovery. He snarled but got up. Other than that unpleasant moment, I had many instances of kindness shown me. These days, healthy, I leave the iconed seats to those who need them, while previous to my time of infirmity I was a bit indifferent. Live and learn.
I see many instances of kindness on the train. Overly loud earbuds can be turned down with a polite request. Gals and their stupid makeup performances are not attractive to witness. Do it at home.

Here in Tokyo it's pouring rain and gusty wind. It's warm, though, so getting soaked coming back home on the bike wasn't actually unpleasant. Looks like everyone is buckled down and sitting out the evening watching TV and how everyone is doing.
