The "Last Emperoe" was tailored for Japan - they cut out the part with the Japanese emperor for the Japanese release - same with Pearl Harbor where they added a scene where a Japaese pilot shouts at children to run and hide just before he drops his bombs (as if they could hear him from the cockpit)

I also read that Fukushima tobacco growers are not going to plant this year's crops due to worries about radiation in the soil (despite the govt putting no restrictions on tobacco leaf near the reactor). Guess they don't want their customers to get cancer!

Saudi Arabia is a gulf heavyweight?! With three humiliating losses to their name featherweight would be more appropriate. And with Japan just getting out of jail in their other two games it is a brave commentator who talks up their chances. The big test will come when they meet Korea or Australia

Talk about shams, what about the "Monde Selection"? Every can coffee, bottled water or cup ramen gets a gold award from the "Monde Selection". What is this "award"?

The JET program is dying because it is being replaced by a system that is even worse - outsourced ALTs, underpaid and being squeezed by the unscrupulous dispatch companies in a race to the bottom.

I have to laugh at all these people buying up cartons of smokes - making a "cancer stash", just waiting for them to consume lots of tar that will stick in their lungs and eventually kill them and harm those around them.

Still cheap! A packet of Marlboro 20 in Australia $14.40 (About 1200 yen) - but rice is about 150 yen kg. In Japan rice is expensive and cigarettes are cheap, other (developed) countries tobacco is expensive and rice is cheap. Choose the more sensible option.

I go for the hyoketsu STRONG (8%) It gives you twice the zap for half the calories! And at 118 yen a can it is easy on the pocket. Such is the woeful life of a middle aged salaryman

Hmmm I am weighing up the ethics of someone who tries to stop a dolphin hunt with a movie, against the ethics of right wing protesters who try to stop a movie with threats and gaisen trucks.

This Saito jerk who is so anti-anti-smoking will probably go down the same path as Chikushi Tetsuya - dead from lung cancer. He also puts forward the "culture" argument - I have heard that somewhere before.
