In Japan, most advertisers were blocked out of the rotation, but now they flood the the programming. If I hear the AC "ay-cee" jingle one more time i will probably puke.
Yeah the video with the old lady trying to walk away from the tsunami was most disturbing. It reinforces an image of Japans aged citizens, unable to fend for themselves.

we have been lucky that winds have been mainly blowing out to sea, but if winds change and radiation goes up im definitely getting in my car and driving a few hundred miles south.

Has the government begun to distribute iodine pills? Do they even know what that is?
In Chernobyl, tens of thousands of lives were saved because these pills were distributed en masse.
The half life of radioactive Iodine is 8 days , so it would take more than a month to drop to legal levels. By then the food will have either spoiled or people emigrated to other cities.

The economic damage caused by the botched rolling blackouts, and the scarcity of gas/diesel could be in the billions.
Can't ask Pachinko parlors to close since this is a very specific type of business that cannot be singled out. They could be asked to turn of the neon signs outside but everyone has to make a living one way or the other.
The 50/60Hz difference in Japan needs to be sorted out NOW. Tokyo is absorbing the full grunt of the power shortage, and like earlier posters said, if all Japan was at 60Hz then we could receive power from Kansai and other areas.
The fuel shortages are killers. The US has a 10% reserve, why does Japan not use their reserves at this crucial time? Some gas stations are charging Y2000 for 10 liters of gas, effectively 200Y/liter. This is illegal and should be prosecuted. In my area lines of cars are sometimes up to 500 cars. People in Kanto/Tohoku need plenty of gas just in case the nuclear reactor finally blows up and everyone has to drive south with their belongings/pets/etc...

the fault line for the next quake runs directly south of tokyo, through Izu peninsula, Shizuoka and kansai. I have a feeling that the next few aftershocks will keep moving south, which means that current tsunami warning maps are already unsuitable.
People in tsunami affected areas had approximately 30 minutes to get away, since the tsunami hit at 3:10pm. Clearly very few people knew what to do, or didnt feel the urgency. Whoever said that the tsunami was only going to be 60cm needs to be thrown in jail.

Iran is actually a relatively progressive culture, apart from the totalitarian theocrazy that has been there. I'm sure a hottie like her can sell records out there.

I am waiting for the new windows 7 phones. The HTC HD2 PRO has the firepower to outclass i-phone and others, but it will not work with the new OS. I need my phone for business, not for twitting and facebooking all the time.
Windows Mobile OS, however, has fallen drastically behind in the "randomly once in a while useful" app category.
