Dear Japan Today, It would be nice if you could give more of an explanation to go along with this photo than simply, "A group protests the government’s inaction on the economy and job issues in Ginza." Who are these people? Do they belong to an organization? Why are they wearing cow kigurumi outfits?

kagunlapell: you ask why a video game about raping innocent women should be seen as any worse than video games where the players kill people. it's pretty obvious, isn't it? in video games where you kill people, the player kills "bad people." but in this one, it seems that the player rapes innocent women. i think it's pretty sick and demented if someone gets pleasure out of that.

Sabiwabi, it's a well known fact that class attendance at Japanese universities is extremely low compared to American, Canadian, and British universities--i can't speak for any other country's schools. anyway, witnesses said the suspect appeared to be in his 30s so it's unlikely he was a student. i wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that this poor fellow had massive debts (with yakuza loan sharks) which he couldn't pay off.

@30061015: yes, it symbolizes nicely the growing 社会格差 (social gap) in Japan. nevertheless, and incredibly, many Japanese continue to believe in the myth that Japan is a 90% (80% depending on who you ask) middle class society!

yes, i'd also like to know more about the warning shot. do police really fire into the ground? isn't that precisely what killed the teenager in Greece a few weeks ago that then set off massive riots? but if they fire it into the air, the bullet has to come down some time, and thus isn't there a danger of it striking someone?--especially in a big city like Tokyo.
