This does not sound legit. I hope the police look into this very carefully.
My heart is a beating a little less at the loss of this poor boys life. May he rest in peace.

I hope the little tyke is resting peacefully. Always sad to read about the senseless death of a child. Parents everywhere need to be more diligent when out and about with kids. It is easier than we may think for a tragedy like this to happen without proper supervision - kids are curious by nature and do not know of the dangers around them - all the more reason for us all to be more attentive when around children. I am not going to say that parents in Japan are any worse than parents elsewhere, there are heart-wrenching stories like this all over. But I will say that I think young parents here may have had a free run of things when they were younger and without good parenting when they were kids it is difficult for them to know what constitutes good parenting themselves. I have several Japanese friends with young children and they are all caring and focused parents with more than their share of common-sense when it comes to taking care of their children.

I agree with roughneck that pachinko parlors should be accountable in instances like this. Now, in this case there was apparently a child care facility but it was full. So does this mean that the pachinko parlor should not be held responsible as they took steps to provide a service to patrons? How big is the pachinko parlor, how many mothers do they expect to be there and how many child care spaces are available? These all need to be looked at. But what I want to know is, was the area the woman parked a part of the parchinko parlor complex? A lot of these types of places in outlying areas have parking. If so, why couldn't someone walk through the parking area every 30 minutes or so and check cars? They knew the child care service was full, so maybe, just maybe an addicted and irresponsible parent might leave a child...and apparantly one did.
RIP little child. RIP.

I must say i enjoyed the movie. Given the movie was made up of many long sequences from the 'handheld camera', it must have been a challenge for the actors and special effects coordinators as there was no way to cut or edit to a different camera angel or retake within a shot without having to go back and shoot the whole sequence again. Clearly it was not actually a 'handheld camera' as the film quality was quite good - sure it was shaky as the actors were running about, but the special effects were well edited into the footage and added to the feel effectively. Many have said they had no idea what the monster was and wanted more background information. Well, in real life you don't get this - it takes time to pull together facts and the movie reflected this. Cleverly done, I think, but maybe not everyones idea of a good movie.
