What was supposed to be an international affair is turning into a domestic dispute. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the LDP and Chinese government made some sort of arrangement prior to this fishing incident. One of the worse things was seeing Ishihara rear his ugly head on the TV and say what was wrong with 'aikokusha' making this video public.

That person should not have made it public, regardless of whether the public should see it or not, because he did not have the authority to do so. It was not his decision to make.

    Sarge:

It must really irk the Chinese that the Japanese, who they beat, are playing the Americans for 3rd place, while they are playing Poland for 11th place.

No Sarge, I just think it must irk you that China beat Japan in their match.

I hear that Jpn got the bronze. Well done! Maybe next time they can have a tournament OUTSIDE Japan. Other teams are having to play against the crowds and Exile, in addition to the Japanese volleyball team. Not fair. Johnny's are bad enough.

Everyone is different and you'll get crude and rough people in any country. I've seen horrible manners in Japan, but I don't judge all Japanese by these uncivilized people.

Having said that, the train (and road) manners in China are horrendous. Hardly anyone offered my elderly father a seat while we were in the waiting room at Shanghai station. Haven't travelled on the subways in China for over 20 years, so I can't comment on that, but I have a friend who is ethnic Chinese but comes from SE Asia. She was first in the line, waiting for an EMPTY subway train to arrive at the platform. By the time she got on, all the seats were taken. In Hong Kong, at least, many line up.

Many Japanese insist on buying Japanese, so these farmers have nothing to worry about. I personally want the choice to be able to buy cheaper products. They can start by reducing the whopping tax imposed on foreign rice. Nothing wrong with foreign rice.

The Chinese who start eating off their plate when they are still in line.

I'm assuming that the Japanese customers who do that don't bother you in the slightest.

I simply cannot remember the last volleyball tournament where the hosts were not Japan.

Apart from the very first meeting, they've all worn some sort of local attire for the photo-op. Only one country decided to go for business suits. One guess as to which country.

China is so last month. This month is Russia. Hopefully, December will be Korea month.

I agree with Takahashi getting this coveted award, although I was looking more at his face.

Why are girl bands and glamour groups like AKB48, SKE48, Morning Musume and Miniskirt Police so popular in Japan?

I think it's because they are really talented and extremely gifted singers, actresses and dancers. They also show the more mature side of women. And their fans are just showing their respect. There certainly is something elegant about the way Minisuka-pori act.

As someone who tries to stick to a vegan diet as much as possible, I have to say that being veg*n in Japan isn't easy but NOT impossible. Those who gave up being veg*n, I think, never had it in their heart. There may be times when you have to eat something which you don't really want to. But then to chuck it all in, and start eating meat was never an option for me or for most of the Indian vegetarians I've met. But, if you want to eat meat, then go ahead. You should never become a veg*n because you think it's cool or if you want to impress someone. So what if you've just had meat or seafood at a party where nothing else was served? Go back to eating vegetarian stuff after the party. You can only minimize the amount of meat you eat, although some meat-eaters you this to nitpick. I respect other people's choice, but some people just feel compelled to criticize my own diet (a sign of insecurity or a need to justify one's own actions?) I've always asked for vegetarian stuff when we have parties with colleagues. At restaurants, try Yasaiten-don, Indian curries. I've seen vegetarian ramen several times before (amazingly) and those who are familiar with the Xian Chinese restaurant chain can find vegetarian shotomen.

Not sure if the vegetable burgers at Freshness Burger are vegetarian or not, but they are out of this world, especially the beanburger.

And why on earth Shojinryori should be so damn expensive, I'll never understand. Hong Kong and Taiwan offer wonderful veg*n stuff at affordable prices.

The short stature of older Japanese had nothing to do with genetics and everything to do with diet and nutrition.

Good diet and nutrition does not equate to eating meat and dairy products. You do know there are many successful veg*n athletes, like Carl Lewis and Martina Navratilova. With the increasing consumption of meat and dairy products in China, we're seeing more and more people suffering from obesity, heart diseases, diabetes and osteoporosis. Funny how women in China, where milk and cheese have never been part of the traditional diet, have low rates of osteoporosis.

This is a bit like the "evil foreigner in Roppongi who supplies drugs to innocent Japanese, getting them into trouble or worst, killing them", but with the nationalities and countries reversed.

Does Kanda have anything to contribute to society? Kinda like Paris Hilton. You want these people to go away, but wherever you look, they're shoved down your faces.

I used it in September, and it took over an hour between Narita and Nippori.

Try paying extra for the direct train next time. Otherwise you can't expect your train to miss every single station between Ueno and the airport.

Jesus, look at Hoshino's legs! Her thighs are thinner than the average person's arms! This excuse of a tarento is going to end up with all sorts of ailments as she gets older (and she will, despite acting like a 10 year old).

    Luna:

She barely tops 5 feet tall, she's not a big person, yet she has some tremendous power behind that little voice.

There is no relation between height and the ability to sing well. Ask Charice Pempengco.

She's clever, I'll give her this. She copies Madonna's style and costumes, but does it a few years later when nobody remembers. And she does this mostly within Japan so even fewer people notice.

The lady writes and produces most of her material, designs her shows and works very hard to create her vision.

I can very well believe that!

Ayu is amazing to me. Something about her voice just hits me so strongly

Yes, something about her voice......is irritating. She should try singing through her throat and lungs, not through her nose.

London Heathrow, the busiest airport hub in the world, with the largest amount of traffic, and the hub that most passengers need to use globally, does not seem to be on Haneda's network ?

I have to use LHR but detest the fact that passengers have to pay 10,000 yen toward the cost of terminal 5 everytime they pass through.
