Can someone please explain to me why the new Karate Kid is so-called? It's set in China and, correct me if I'm wrong, the martial arts involved is kung-fu. Are Americans really that ignorant when it comes to distinguishing different Asian cultures?
I'm glad the film will be renamed Kung-Fu Kid in China. I see it'll be renamed 'Besto Kiddo' in Japan - not a very good name for the original film - we can't have foreigners associated with a Japanese word (albeit referring to an Okinawan martial arts).
Interesting to see the location/culture changing from Japan to China. A sign of the times?!
Posted in: Hollywood is bombarding us this summer with lots of sequels and remakes, such as "Iron Man 2," "Sex and the City 2," "Toy Story 3," "Shrek 4," and "The Karate Kid," among others. Whatever happened to creativity and originality in films?

This is one big article justifying excuses for discrimination. And as posters are saying, WWII was decades ago, unless your landlord happens to be Governor Ishihara.

While this guy went overboard, I can understand how annoying it can be sometimes. Emergency calls, short calls taken quietly, and telling the person on the other end where you are are fine, but when the caller is gossiping loudly for hours on end, then it can really get on your nerves.

That's strange, considering that we're being forced to take X-rays every single damn year - and increasing our chances of getting cancer.

Getting your GF pregnant and then deciding to get married is not an ideal way to start. But then again, this is Japan.
That permanent smile is getting annoying.

I'm assuming you didn't see Kim's performance. Spot on, no mistakes versus two significant mistakes. Don't worry, there's always Sochi.

Where are the books by Ishihara? Or those anti-Korean and anti-foreigner books that were sold in 7-11? Wouldn't they be cool?

That's strange. When I mentioned dead Iraqi children, my post was deleted. I really don't ever remember Wen being involved in their murder.

I don't think they'd let you in without a visa, so that's not for you to say!!!
You have got to be joking! I am assuming that a visa applied for in the usual way will cost less. But, come on, who on earth is going to fork out that much? Sorry but I'm not that desperate to visit the UAE.

I hope that if their children ever go abroad, they won't be discriminated against when looking for an apartment. But then again, when the shoe is on the other foot...

Language barrier my foot. If the customer speaks Japanese, you can bet your nelly the landlords will find some other excuse.

Seems he was quite well-known in Japan too. Very sad to hear this news, though I was expecting it when I heard that he was rushed to hospital yesterday. The siblings in the show all seemed to have had bad luck - and coincidentally, Plato's surviving son committed suicide this month. I guess his mother's premature death really affected him. But Bridges, at least, seems to be back on the right track.
I grew up watching the show and now and again watch the old episodes on Youtube - love the season 5 episodes with nemesis, Lisa. It was a kind of show which was aimed at children but you never really got all the jokes until you were a bit older. I got the DVDs for the first two seasons and I wish they'd hurry up and release the others. It's been years since the release of season 2.
Thanks for the memories, Gary
