That goes for cucumbers too! I'm sure they used to sell cucumbers from other parts of the country, but ever since the nuclear plant problem started, apart from the odd cucumbers from Gunma, they've been bombarding our place with Fukushima cucumbers. The message being - buy Fukushima or don't eat at all.
Posted in: If Fukushima's peaches, which are famous nationwide, don't sell, then no farm product grown in our prefecture will stand a chance. We'll do everything we can.

No idea. But I do know what Cathay Pacific pilots get from air stewardesses when the former are still sitting in their big chair.

It amazes me how often I see Japanese parents not holding their children's hands when they should, eg when crossing main roads. I've seen plenty who just let their small kids run across the roads. Common sense is thrown out the window when it comes to children using seatbelts too. .

Yeah, I just love the tactic Snowbrand used after they poisoned some of their customers by changing their name. The Japanese sure are forgiving (as long as the company is Japanese).

A lesson to all do-gooders - think carefully before you give money and aid. She was probably better off being selfish and not attempting to help the less fortunate.

I guess the Emperor and Empress (and the previous emperor) aren't Japanese either then.
I wish the old windbag would say this to their faces.
As I've always said, it's no skin off my back who the Tokyoites vote for, but they get what they deserve. I feel sorry for those who did vote and did not want this babbling relic. I know my Japanese partner is sick and tired of him. In a civilized, democratic country where people voice their opinions and demand change, he'd have been out of office ten times over by now.
He's a godsend to those who want Japan to be seen in a bad light internationally.

Funny how Abe didn't visit while he was PM. You can bet your nelly Tanigaki won't go if he ever becomes PM.

What? In order to pay respects to the dead, you have to dress up in some ridiculous garb, hold weapons and pretend to be someone you never were (ie a soldier)? I bet these guys have never even experienced the front lines. If the PM and the Emperor can pay their respects in a dignified way, then anyone can. The rightwingers, shouting out racist rants, belittling your neighbors (who aren't so weak anymore) and acting aggressive do themselves no favors. But these right-wingers can dream on all they like, because the empire will never come back.
As for Tanigaki, well he's just after brownie points. I find the LDP despicable, refusing to cooperate in helping the tsunami victims and arguing with the government just for the sake of it and yet trying to score points by visiting the shrine. Almost as disgusting as the museum right next to it, with its lies.

That's what I thought, so I don't understand why the other poster was going on about education not being free. I'm willing to bet most of those scumbags don't even want to go to university. It's no coincidence that of all the shops that could have been targeted, bookstores were left untouched! As I said before, UK offers many opportunities to those willing to seize them. Unfortunately, the country also offers easier opportunities called handouts. If people want to know what real poverty is, go to Africa, SE Asia or even parts of China. Those people stealing from the shoe shops - not one of them was barefoot before going in.
There are lots of 'disadvantaged people' who don't go out rioting - because they know the difference between right and wrong, regardless of being poor or not. Immigrants from the Commonwealth came to the UK to earn an honest living just after the war. And they made sure their children studied hard, especially the Indians and Chinese. And you know something is wrong when even these second generation want out of this country. I know some who have gone back to their parents' countries or other places and have not looked back. Their parents hardly received handouts in the old days. Many new comers can now expect free housing! Add to this the youth drinking culture, and 2 decades of PC madness which prevents criminals from being punished harshly. I really don't know what was worst - the Tatcherite years or the Bliar years but both have lead to the current situation where many people have absolutely no respect for others.
The only good thing to come out of this is the law-abiding citizens who have come out in force to protect their community.

They deserve more than a book. This is what happens when you spoon-feed the lazy with welfare benefits, and protect the lowest form of life with 'human rights'. No wonder many of the good folks are leaving the country. There are opportunities to make a better life for yourself in the UK, but some just sit on their lazy arses and let others work hard so they can get all the benefits.
I just found out a shop owned by one of my relatives was broken into. Windows all smashed. Thank god she sold the place last year, but it's frightening to think what if. The whole street where it all happened is on Youtube. I know that street! And I could see people breaking the windows of all the other shops. I heard an elderly friend was mugged in broad daylight. Thank god again the police caught the bastards. Yes, I know heavy-handed tactics might turn people against the police, but I sure wouldn't complain. The whole country's gone down hill. You can't really punish criminals enough in the UK.
Poverty, sure!

And all have stepped up their continual assault on customers with inflated fuel surcharges. I just looked at prices for Xmas, and they are even more expensive than last year. More than half the fare is actually taxes, surcharges, etc. Even using your air miles, you won't have a 'free' flight.
BTW, yes, I like CX too, along with NH. Even more so, having just used United and being dealt with ground staff with sour-looking faces as if they've just got out of the wrong side of the bed.
