No doubt comes with a "Warning - do not use near heat or open flame." sticker. I smell a future lawsuit, along with the lovely aroma of lilac.

Of course Russia wants to play nice - with oil prices tanking they have less reason to swagger.

Yes, some sympathy for those regular Joes (cliched and incorrect as that may be) that will lose their jobs, but why should their jobs be more protected than any others, and why weren't they doing something wiser with their money and skills when times were good? Unions were good at getting them raises, but not mush more.

No, not least because the "Big 3" are not the big 3.

Maybe he should just watch less TV? Anyway, hope he turns this diatribe into a Hollywood musical.

Statistician;
Why are you assuming that I support the bank bailout too? They should go under if they're inefficient businesses too, as should any other, or do you think that you can store money and get loans in your union-made car? Bottom line in the US and Canada is that the "Big 3" are dying and it's not the auto industry that's in decline, but rather the American auto industry. They'll go under sooner or later, less pain if they do so now. If governments want to throw money at industry, invest it in technology and innovation as they are the currencies of the future, not supporting GM, which is essentially a financing company that makes cars and can't compete with the Honda and Toyotas of the world, who also make cars in the US.

Bad idea - let them fold if that's where they're heading. Governments shouldn't be propping up these outdated smokestack industries and corrupt unions.

Yeah - like that guy who died after being beaten by 10 others in a hazing ritual, what a wimp for dying.
Anyway, it says in the caption that this is part of a recruiting exercise, and those choppers on the right would have an edge in unarmed combat.

Never had a problem with using Visa or MC in Japan for purchases, either when I lived there or as a tourist. The only problem I saw was less penetration of places which accepted any credit card, Japanese or other.

Excellent story and far above JTs usual quality. More like this, please. And even without cameras, the monkey reflex to gawk at others' misery is pretty pathetic. I had a girlfriend collapse in a subway station and when the paramedics looked after fer, a crowd gathered to watch with one excited fat woman forcibly pushing her way to the front to stare. I wanted to yell at them all to respect someone's privacy but realized it wouldn't have helped my girlfriend
