The US put this info to work with excellent effect in places like Fallujah. Difference is, Sarkozy needs it at home, in places like Paris.

So much talk about Bush's supposed 'buddies' in Big Oil. But never any actual names. Who are they? The 14 largest oil producers are nationalized concerns, operating in countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuela, China, etc. None of them strike me as friendly to America. This just in - most Americans don't care what the rest of the world thinks of us. What's more, though we account for less than 5 percent of the world's population, we supposedly consume 25 percent of available resources. I rather doubt that little bit of trivia, but I like to throw it out as proof positive for the first sentence I wrote.
