Despite China's attempts to use the Olympics to demonstrate their "arrival" as a modern nation, I think the Olympics is merely going to reinforce the world's view that China's still medieval despite her military arsenal.

I think South Korea needs to mature a little more as a nation. The unhealthy displays of excessive nationalism are not going to help South Korea win the world's support. For all South Korea's criticism of post-war Japanese imperialism/nationalism, South Korea is a far more aggressive and unenlightened state.

Japan needs to be active on a global scale if she wants to be taken seriously. This also shows that it's not only the Americans who want continued Japanese support. The LDP is bad, but in many ways the opposition is worse.

I think both sides (in this discussion) need to stop with the verbal attacks that are irrelevant to the discussion as well as unfounded claims against the citizens of both countries. Like in all countries there are hotheads, but that doesn't mean everyone in Japan or Korea is illogical Bibric.

Proximity doesn't make any sense. Their cultures and gene are exactly the same as Koreans'.

Tsushima is far more closely related to Japan than Korea, have you ever been? I'd like to see that evidence. Japan's rule over Tsushima has been continuous since the Heian Period with the exception of…

Also there is a difference between Joseon and South Korea. Joseon MAY have had a legit claim to the isles, but South Korea is not universally recognized as the heir to Joseon, North Korea can also claim that right.

The Liancourt Rocks was dicover by French ? So it is French Country !

The French were not the first to discover Takeshima. The Japanese and Koreans had been to the islands many times before the Europeans began their Age of Exploration. THe French were merely the first Europeans to…

    FairandBalanced,

All you've said throughout this discussion is that the islands are Korean, nothing more. Unlike the rest of us, you have yet to support your position with researched facts.

So...are they going to send out checks or what?

I think the apology was a good thing, but I don't think compensation is. First of all a few generations have passed. Second, the Africans/Arabs who first captured the blacks as well as the primarily European traders who shipped the slaves…
