While I believe that repeating the announcement in English would be helpful, not all foreigners in Japan can understand English. Most people in Japan should be able to understand English, after all that's why they're there. The only people who probably can't would be tourists and certainly many tourists can't speak Japanese OR English. Tourists, who can't would either notice people evacuating and go with the flow, or could just ask around 'till they found someone who could explain, whether in hand signs or a rough version of said tourists language.

But that could make winning a majority even harder as well as requiring a complete restructuring of the gov't and election system.

While I think the accident could have been prevented with the locks on the window some people mentioned earlier, it was a tragic accident not negligence.

I don't really think this is so much parental negligence as just a sheer freak accident. Only 2 yrs old, the parents must be devastated.

The margin of profit being made by oil companies isn't really any greater than that of companies in other industries. The high prices are not a result of the world's oil companies conspiring to bankrupt us.

I'm going to have to side with the mugi-cha crowd, although soukenbicha is good too. It's really refreshing, I just wouldn't go with anything hot or sugary.

George W. Bush is from Connecticut. Sure he was Governor of Texas, but a lot of the folksy Bush persona is just an act to appeal to the average American. Most Texans don't sound like him, etc.

Western style was emulated in Japan, but I don't think that the traditional was ever entirely rejected. Most of the world today has shifted to wearing Western-style clothing (jeans, t-shirt, pants, etc.), I don't think it's a Japanese phenomenon. Also the clothing of the average Japanese it a lot different than the average American. Tokyo has been a global fashion capital for a long time, so it's only natural that the Japanese would have a style of their own. However I do not disagree with the statement that the Japanese like the Western concept of beauty (just look at all the fashion ads, most of the models are white).
Posted in: Since the end of the war, Japanese had been blindly following the Western standard of beauty and they tried so hard to imitate and look like Western models or actresses regardless of our physical differences. But in recent years, Japanese have stopped looking only outside and started looking inside again. They are beginning to find their identity of being beautiful in the way they are.

Yes, but pandering to every dictator and oppressive regime in the world sets a bad precedence. Already many countries (ex. North Korea) believe if they act up the rest of the world will shower gifts on them as a way of making them behave. It's like indulging a spoiled child. As for reward a man who violently suppresses opposition and participates in ethnic cleansing does not deserve a reward.

Exactly, they are managing it and she's not recovering. It probably has nothing to do with her doctors. It's her surrounding environment that's keeping her from recovering. Even if you hired European physicians I doubt she'd get any better.

I am not saying that Narita is the perfect airport or that its convenient, I'm just saying that it isn't as bad as some people think and I never said Haneda didn't have potential, I'm just saying that I think it has less space for expansion (less not none). I fly out of Narita a lot too btw. Sucks though that Continental was moved to terminal 1, though it seems less crowded.

I'm not a huge McCain fan myself, but conservative is not a bad thing it's just a difference of opinion. Conservatives have done just as many great things and bad things as liberals.
