Japan's not the only country that does this - NZ has returning resident visas as well.

And you can add few european countries some ask residents to get an authorization to travel abroad. But according to JT users standards "whites" are not supposed to be subject to such harrasement.…

Sure ! Many japanese dream about living in China, South Korea or Philippines, countries with many jobs available.....and the world economy slump exists only in Japan, did not know we had so good…

Same complaints as usual. Let overstayers stay and then complain because the country is not safe anymore. You can't have your cake and eat it. If Japan let them stay others will use the same trick, come with fake passports, have kids and ask to stay like Noriko's family back…
