Glad to operate (aka at work and at home) since over two decades with mac os. Every time I'm forced to work on a pc with windows (unfortunately I have to dokitoki at work), it makes me feel like using a time machine, backwards. Really nothing against Windows, I'm far from hating it and I know the topic is about the new Windows OS. Just to say, I will never use this unless I'm forced to :0...

In my humble opinion... I like Tokyo, I'm not such a big fan of Kyoto. Been there three times, that's it for the rest of my life... The best place: Miyazaki City, far away from everything, warm, small but all there you need, nice people and I can say Hi personally to every foreigner, because you see some only once in a while.

I watched it here in Europe and this game made me yawning. Both sides didn't show good skills. While the japanese ball control was aweful, the koreans acted like girls after were involved in a foul. There are teams in this tournament which deserves this bronze medal more than the two teams played for it. However, the japanese midfield played a good game, while the korean defense showed good moments, too. In the end, I think Soccer (and I like Soccer) should not be a Olympic discipline.

This leaves me speechless... Ebino is my second home and the place where you never expect such things will happen. Too rural, too quiet, too beautiful, too out of this world...

Will someone trust a company with the biggest failure in credit card data hacking in history or even implanting malware from the company's music cd's to computers anymore? I always liked Sony, but these days I prefer to have them one the other side of my firewall... Means, the recently bought bluray player will be my last product of this company....

The problem is: even if they will be able to buy the islands with such a small amount of money and the chinese will give up on it, the chinese will focus then on another part of Japan (or another asian country) to overtake... Territorial disputes became the new hobby of China...

Same (including whaling) is done by the European Faroe Islands every year... I don't support this stuff at all, in fact I hate it. But compare to the ten thousand seals industrially hunted and slaughtered in Canada and Russia (excluding Greenlanders) every year, the Taiji stuff is just peanuts... To open a dolphin park in such area maybe sounds strange to some people. To me it's better than nothing to do a step forward. Imagine, all the hunters will be able to have jobs there. No more reason to go on a hunt...

Well, I can't imagine to eat like this, eating is not only put something in my mouth and swallow. But every country has it's special manner, it's just like that. So, when in South Korea, do as the South Korean do. When in Japan, do as the japanese do...

That's exactly the one and only sentence in this discussion here that counts... I really like dogs but in this sad case it doesn't matter wether it was the dogs fault or not. It's just a fact, it killed somebody, it must be put down and the owner must be fined (that it really hurts). Not for nothing specific dogs are illegal in some countries...

@Robert Dykes... I totally agree with you, nice words.
I'm not living in Japan now, but plan it for so many years, so maybe some more years to go. My wife is japanese, very southbound, a real great place to live. Clearly not everything is golden in Japan, as in every other country. Nationalism and Racism, yah, spread all over the world, not only in Nippon. Still I never faced any bad situation while I stayed in Japan. I can't say too many bad things about the country, but about many western places I used to be before.
Never can imagine to live in China or India, too. No places of mine. These countries are now getting through the whole process of the bubbling economy with all the side-effects. Life there is only about making money. It's clear, Japan has a problem with it's economy and probably the think tanks outlook will become true. But I'm sure at the same time, there will be many other countries in the world with equal problems. My only wish for Japan is to open it's immigration policy a bit. I don't support too much immigration, it will make things worser, as seen in so many other countries in the world (my homecountry has almost 30% foreigners).
All in all, there are things to scrutinize in Japan, but still... it's the place I will die (if possible :)...
