They have child tickets for something which is an offshoot of one of Japan's fetish sub-cultures?

I quite honestly find that difficult to stomach.

The guy had a complaint...about a PROSTITUTE? Would a female member of staff have visited this guy's room in any other country but Japan?

The set patterns of behaviour and the utter incapability of many Japanese in breaking them constantly astounds me here.

So she actually only waited for 40 mins.

I've been left waiting on the platform in London in the driving rain and freezing wind for longer...

Perhaps China keep prodding Japan in an attempt to get them to impose another closed-doors Tokugawa mentality, thereby quietly sweeping them under the rug with minimal fuss.

And, apart from North Korea, Venezuela, and Iran, which countries does China actually harbour a friendly relationship? They seem intent on becoming one of the most despised countries in the world.

I agree, Sandankyo is far more beautiful. Why no pic of the three waterfalls or terrific gorge?

So first, 50% of the post is deleted. Then 100% and the proceeding comment?

Trying to hide your original ineptitude instead of just apologising: even bigger FAIL.

Japan Today is fast becoming the Japanese government of international politics.

I never noticed or minded smokers much back home as they never encroached on my daily life. Now, after being in Japan for 8 years, I want them all to die.

It's time the Japanese took it on the chin for once instead of finger-pointing.

Time to step up to the plate Japan...hungry for it? No, didn't think so.

I've actually just come back from a chain restaurant (Wako Tonkatsu).

Ordered a set, noticed that it came with rice (I wouldn't wish Japanese rice on my worst enemy), asked the waitress not to bother give me rice with the set; she asked me if I still wanted everything else (pickles, etc.), I said yes, she said OK, smiled (SMILED!) and left.

She even gave me an extra oshibori because I got sauce all over my fingers.

I have pretty much given up on Japanese women, after a honeymoon period of about 4 years. There just isn't anything under the surface, and what I initially thought to be a communication issue, and some kind of cultural quirkiness, is in fact much more like a giant sucking void where any substance needs to be. Give me a God-honest, straight talking, sexually liberated American girl over a Japanese girl any day of the week. What I guess I am trying to say is; I literally don't care what Japanese women think or care about, as I have no interest in them anymore.

    DuraAce - I concur.

The 1% of Japanese women actually worth a damn, just aren't worth the hassle of looking for. Best observed from afar imho.

I suppose you were unaware that I'm an unashamed wind-up merchant. I actually cook and eat at home twice a day, have never used a credit-card in my life, and live in a reasonably modest city in west Japan.

You're quite right: perhaps 90% (or even more) of restaurants catering in European cuisine in Japan are laughably dreadful. Which is why I go to the 10% which aren't.

I'm not all bad you know.

You can't have lived in London then!

I have Japanese staff bending over backwards for me wherever I go. I was in an Italian restaurant recently and my partner and I wanted to share one of the dishes. They brought two empty, heated dishes to the table, and then the main dish on a wooden trolley; the chef personally asked how he would like us to cut the meat (60/40, 70/30, etc.). Two days ago, in a Tempura restaurant, asked the waitress to change all of the seafood/fish on the set menu and swap it for vegetables. "OK", she said. Bish, bash, bosh. French restaurant, we wanted to take the half-finished bottle of wine with us. They put it in a bag with a ribbon for crying out loud. I'm admittedly quite the gentleman and invite such service due to my respectful demeanour and considerate eyes, but still...where are you all going wrong?

My Sennheiser IE 6 only lasted 8 months before the sound went in the left earbud. These Bose cost about 40% less than I paid but not sure if it's worth it if they're going to bite the dust soon too. Anyone here with experience on Bose's build quality?

Date in a "brand shop"...er...something is very wrong here.

Anyway, as long as you make your date feel like she's the only person on earth and she buys into it, it honestly doesn't matter where you take her sorry ass.

In most countries there is a disparity of income between the poor and the rich, or the upper classes and the lower. In Japan it is between the old and young. Too many old people sitting on far too much money.
