You are right, Ishihara is a master writer, I own his books and wish his fictional views of the world stay between the thin covers of his books, and not infect impressionable rural simpletons like Abe.

The news media called it Kaku Seizai, I thought that was meth, maybe it is not meth, but if you are looking for meth do not call it Kaku Seizai as that is a tip-off that you are a nark and not a high-ass.
Anyway, I do not advocate drugs. Nor do I believe in witch-hunts.

Actually, Oi's location is potentially more dangerous in a winter storm as its location right off the Sea of Japan would mean heavier snow than Tohoku would likely receive. Thus, snow removal would be more difficult on the one access road to the plant should it suffer a nuclear meltdown.

@Yubaru If Japan does not want friends then too bad. I for one think Japan still is one of the great countries and before a peaceful first-rate democracy sinks from corporate corruption I think we should exercise the few free speech rights that we have.
As zichi pointed out, Abe is going to appoint the young Ishihara to head an organization he knows nothing about? Japanese people are going to respect this? Really?

Maybe you are forgetting the half-week man-hunt for Sakai. Instead of saying -- "Yea, I do drugs, so what?" she committed a number of crimes by fleeing the police and then putting her head down when the cameras came.
And by the way, she was doing Meth, the one drug that deserves to be illegal.

@axle14 Do you think any country, or the majority of Japanese people, are capable of respecting Abe? Is a platform of cronyism and militarism a good way to get respect?

Should the IAEA be concerned about Abe's aggressive military plans? After all, Japan has 45 tons of separated plutonium that is supposed to not be used for weaponry.
Why can Japan have plutonium and not Iran? Abe, Ishihara, and Hashimoto have all issued aggressive militant statements about the possession of nuclear weaponry.
No wonder the IAEA has no credibility anymore.

Disillusioned, other countries should be concerned when the winning political message is -- we want an aggressive military and we are going to use America to leverage our position.

With so many brilliant, fair-minded, and pragmatic Japanese leaders it is sad to see the return of a semi-literate historical revisionist, a man that wants to take a peaceful country into war.

Can you imagine the sort of person that suggests that radiation is OK for children in Fukushima? It would be interesting to see some sort of graph that documents how much money it takes for a person to argue against the health of children.

How can you possibly support Abe if you are a foreigner? He is a shameless racist, dishonest historical revisionist, in the pocket of big business, a disgrace to Japanese people.

Winter storms impede emergency response -- if the Oi nuclear plant malfunctions during a big winter storm then there may be no way to contain a nuclear meltdown. Hopefully, when the next nuclear meltdown occurs it won't be because the roads are blocked due to snow and ice.

On June 21, the Lithuanian Parliament approved a construction contract between its government and Hitachi-GE for an ABWR (1,384 MW). Construction plans for the Visaginas Nuclear Plant, close to the border of Latvia and Belarus, aim for completion in 2021. Latvia and Estonia will also receive electricity and are being requested to bear a part of the cost burden. It is planned to conclude the official contract after the investment amounts are approved. Hitachi, the nuclear plant's operating company has also become an investor, and should the investment figure for the three countries decrease then Hitachi's burden will increase. Some of the surrounding countries also have anti-construction movements, and thus this is a major risk for Hitachi.

But the new plant is also contingent on the neighboring countries -- and there is enough anti-nuclear opposition in the countries neighboring Lithuania to make the plan even more financially risky. Hitachi is taking big risks lately.

Agree with comments above -- great to see women in leadership positions. Congrats South Korea for being more progressive than us (never thought I'd say that).

Ready to take over what? And their campaign slogan "Take back Japan" -- what are they taking back exactly?
Will Abe be able to take Japan back to military aggression?
How many American troops are going to be taken back into war now that Japan is lead by right-wing hawks with fictional views of history?
How many compensation payments to Fukushima evacuees will be taken back?
