Just officials getting media coverage at home.
SK officials complain much more about these shrine visits than the Cheonan sinking and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island. Odd priorities.
And if China hopes to be a superpower, it needs to lose this 'victim' image.

NK is very unpredicatable, so this is a likely scenario. The Cheonan sinking and the Yeonpyeong Island shelling were NK provocations. SK held their nerve. But in the distorted minds of the North, this may have been seen as weak.
The US are about to have an exercise with SK. NK hasn't taken action when past exercises were in full swing. So they may get brave later in summer, when the US hardware's elsewhere.
The North usually make threats when there has been a change in the SK presidency, this time Park Geun-hye. But she has politics in the blood. These threats won't be a surprise to her, but it does test her stated goodwill to the North.
Rodman should be ashamed of himself.

The retained earnings of these Japanese companies mean the public don't receive dividend value.
Less money in the economy, less demand.
So to find demand part of these savings are spent on foreign investments.
So, unchanged, the Japanese domestic economy sees less demand, less investment and lower circulation.
Posted in: The key to a better-balanced economy in Japan is taking the vast surplus profits away from a corporate oligopoly that has proved unable to use them. Corporate financial surpluses that end up in vast fiscal liabilities must be trimmed. Let the public enjoy the income, instead.

Salaries, wages are not output dependent so they are fixed costs. Piece work labour rates are variable.
Posted in: It is necessary for companies to raise employee wages to help the country out of deflation. Lower wages lead to less consumption and lower prices, forcing companies to reduce wages as part of cost cuts.
