I'm from the west and when me and my friends entered a maid cafe in Akihabara we really weren't sure what kind of place this was, because in the west a place like this would seem very suspicious. But thankfully it was all innocent. Japan has a whole other culture and the kawaii phenomenon was fun to experience.

Loved the original movies, but isn't bruce willis getting a bit old for these kinds of movies, not to mention the storyline is quite unbelieable.
Anyway, awesome design change on the header bar, JT.

This Abe person seems awfully obsessed with WW2. Why not let it be what it is? The past. Time to look forward and move on, it's the only way to get rid of the hate, mistakes and sufferings.

I love Japan a lot, and it is my favourite people and place, but the whaling is simply disgusting.

Not just english, many of us do this in our own native language when we speak with people who are not native, like immigrants. It just makes it easier for everyone to understand, but I guess the core is that we don't want to spend time explaining words to them.
Posted in: Why do some native English speakers use broken or grammatically incorrect English, when trying to communicate with someone who isn't a native English speaker, but who may understand some English? Do they think that somehow broken English is easier to understand?

Russians breach airspace in my country and nearby all the time, don't trust them for a second. For some reason they just don't want to get along with others.

While the clothing of this dog is silly looking and probably have no practical use - in colder countries small-dog owners buy clothes for their dogs because of the cold weather.

Are we still talking about Kasai's picture with that kid? That's not porn.
Try watching some, you'll notice the difference quite fast.

Been watching AKBingo, and I think AKB48 has got some really funny and interesting personalities, as well as talented dancers and singers. I find the whole AKB phenomenon interesting.

This is truly sad. On the topic of gun restrictions and laws however: This is just one shooting among many, and many to come unless the US starts cleaning up their weapon policies.

I have a question about kanji, since I am not Japanese. Do they ever create new kanji to meet the demands of todays language, or do they update old ones with new meanings etc?

I can think of two reasons why they didn't attempt to shoot the rocket down. 1) the north koreans aren't really right in their minds, and gets provoked by anything. Who knows how they would respond to a shoot down (although it's not okay that north korea is existing anyhow) 2) it's a chance for japanese intelligence to get data on north koreans current technology by watching the rocket.

I'm not saying EU is only bad. A lot of good has happened, although the opening of borders and taking in immigrants has increased numbers on crime in every country affected, like norway. they are talking about saving the euro, while germany and france are probably the only countries strong enough to keep using it. It's not world war anymore, but everything is far from fixed. countries are bankrupt, people are starving, while the rich leaders, always unaffected by these things, go on and make fancy speeches. the peace prize will keep people from remembering these things for a little time, then it's back to talking about saving greece, saving the euro and all of that again - nothing changed.

Good for Yamanaka. The peace prize however, going to the EU is a joke. As a western, there is nothing good in EU. It's all corruption, debt, falling currency and conflicts. It should be called the nobel joke prize, because it would make more sense.
