Napalm Death were around when I was a lad, it's good, old fashioned thrash metal music, not this new fangled hip-hop rubbish.

For daft promises you should read the Happiness Realisation Party manifesto, which I was handed today as I walked through town. According to them they will: abolish consumption tax, reduce income tax, abolish highway tolls, build cheap, spacious apartments for all, raise the population to 300 million, build linear magnetic railways all over the country, bring in lots of foreigners as babysitters, build bases on the Moon and Mars and make Japanese GDP the highest in the world.

How about that then? I'll be interested to see how many votes they get. I wonder where they got the money for their campaign, a 32 page glossy manifesto doesn't come cheap.

In Britain, the "terminally ill", once released from prison, often go on to make a remarkable recovery.

I do wonder why the SNP helped out Brown on this one. What's in it for them?

Children do take swimming lessons at school, but no Japanese pool I have ever been in has had a deep end. This means that when children suddenly find they are out of their depth they panic, since they are used to being able to touch the bottom any time they like.

I noticed this with my own son: he is quite a good swimmer and likes the sea. But when we went snorkeling the first time and the water was deep he was extremely nervous.

We need pools with deep ends and swimming lessons wearing trousers and shirts. This will build confidence and hopefully reduce the number of drownings.

JAL is certain to do the same as ANA, since they collude in fixing the fuel surcharges.

The airlines still need to explain why there is no surcharge on domestic flights.

Come on YuriOtani, you are surely not suggesting that Japanese forces only killed enemy soldiers and never laid a finger on foreign civilians? Why not take a trip to Changi beach in Singapore and see the monument to Singaporean citizens killed by the Japanese (with text in Japanese to avoid "confusion").

What about Japanese actions in China and Korea? Were no civilians harmed in those countries by Japanese troops?

The Japanese forces even killed Japanese citizens. Take a trip to the Himeyuri exhibit in Okinawa to find out how the Japanese army illegally forced citizens, schoolchildren in this case, to assist them. Note how the Japanese army forced Okinawans to commit "suicide".

The military government in Japan at the time was a brutal, vicious, unyielding regime that deserved everything it got. Don't blame the Americans for what happened, blame the Japanese forces and the coward Hirohito for not standing up to them. Remember this the next time you see the fascists parading around the streets, spreading their lies.

It's incredible that someone who beats his own mother to death with a baseball bat is released after only four years. I'd like to know who authorised the release and on what grounds. Get the guy on TV and make him explain himself.

I don't believe that the death penalty is much of a deterrent to these people. As for violence in the UK, I believe that ever-shorter sentences have a lot to do with the rise in crime. Ten years, or less for killing someone isn't enough. Make it a minimum of thirty years and you'll start to see a difference.

Here are some top tips on raising a bilingual child.

    http://www.twfcymru.com/EN-GB/ADVICEFORPARENTSANDTHEFAMILY/Pages/Howtobebilingual.aspx

In our case I speak only English at home to my son and wife, whilst my wife speaks only Japanese to him and me. Result: bilingual boy. Those who advocate monolingualism can be ignored.

It's not clear why the guy in the article has to run to the cafe to use the WiFi connection to send large files. You don't need WiFi to send large files. Sending confidential data over WiFi in a cafe doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

My former student was here the other day, moaning about internet restrictions at his workplace. Seeing as he used to spend most of the day watching sports and instant messaging, I'd say the employer has the right idea. Facebook and instant messaging with your mates do not help productivity.

The new Boeing 787 is mostly made of composite materials, so the above quote will soon be true for Boeing too.

It may be possible to demonstrate that composite materials shatter under extreme stress, but how likely are such stresses encountered in normal use? If the designs were flawed the aircraft would not receive their type certificates.

I wonder why British soldiers are dying to help support a misogynistic, illiberal government from being overthrown by a bunch of misogynistic, illiberal, bearded half-wits.

Let's also not forget that the British government has refused to buy adequate equipment for their army and this tight-fistedness is costing lives.

I would like to see all foreign troops withdrawn from Afghanistan and the beards left to fight amongst themselves. We will get no gratitude from the Afghanis for meddling in their affairs, so let's leave them to it.

I've got nearly all of my funds in tax havens to keep them out of the reach of grasping Gordon Brown.

Meanwhile, people like Lord Rothermere, a UK citizen born in the UK, full-time UK resident, owner of UK businesses and properties, somehow manages to maintain non-domicile status and pays almost no UK tax. How is this possible? Why did the Inland Revenue boss Dave Hartnett personally intervene to prevent the loss of non-domicile status for Lord Rothermere. I imagine Brown was at the bottom of it, yet he has the cheek to lecture "tax havens" about their behaviour.
