'zurcronium' writes:"In reality what would happen in the above story is that the rich person would buy the bar and drink for free..."
What silliness. For starters, "in reality," the Democrats are the party of the rich in America.
I would like to know if the UK has foolishly embraced the genteel liberalism now in vogue in America.

'betzee' has written
"Then the bottom fell out of an economy driven by the paper worth of the financial services industry and inflated real estate values. Or, as someone humorously put it:
"We mugged Mr. Market in an alley, with the cost of wars of choice. And then ran over him with our Hummer, with our energy non-policy. And left him on food stamps in a large cardboard box over a heating grate, with our innovative securitization of mortgage risk."

The whole country is circling the drain. Like this is really going to make a difference. Ban smoking. Arrest the parents of overweight kids. Ban the display of the flag. Ban something as innocuous as American-style 'Happy Hour'; how freaking pathetic is England.

Female suicide bombers.
The Left likes to say they predicted all the violence that would erupt.
Were female suicide bombers in those predictions?

"Donkey - If Sarah Palin lowered economic growth in Alaska, why does she have an 80% approval rating in Alaska? Hmmm?"
They can't answer that one. Does not compute.

The topic is business and economics and most people come armed with editorials and pet theories and blame for George Bush.
It is kind of funny to recall that when the economy was good American liberals' biggest economic fear, from what I could tell, was the Wal Mart model.
Do you see Wal Mart begging for a hand out?
Nope.
Business is better than ever.
"Jason Furman, a Brookings Institution economist who also has advised Barack Obama, has written that Wal-Mart's low-price savings to America came to $263 billion in 2004, or something like $2,329 per household."

Her opponents, admirers of neurotic and botoxed harridans like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi, can't stand to see a happy woman. In their world, where everyone is a victim, there is nothing more intolerable than a modest, brave and decent woman like Sarah Palin. She loves life, her husband, her kids, her home state and her country.
And just look at the hatred it evokes.

The article also mentions the assassinations of M L King and Robert Kennedy.
RFK was killed by Sirhan Sirhan. Obama's friend, the educator and former terrorist William Ayers, dedicated one of his books to Sirhan Sirhan.
So if people want to get all excited and start with the conspiracies there is plenty of fear to go around...

Putin knows Obama is a push-over. Russia has been planning this move for years. Bush's term is basically finished so the Russians announce during the transition.
The interesting thing about projects like this is what the commentary (like that above) exposes. I am referring to the hypocrisy, the double standards and the true agendas of so-called green groups that would be protesting like the end of the world is at hand - if the exploitation of resources in the Gulf was being done by American companies.
Putin's Russia has an environmental record as dismal as that of the Soviets, which is not surprising, since he is cut from the same totalitarian cloth. But note the complete lack of concern that you see regarding this.
