I feel sorry for the woman and hope she can pull through and get well soon. I'm disappointed at the police for not able to apprehend the attacker at the scene of the crime, but they didn't really done anything wrong. This time they took the stalker seriously, issued a warning to him. they also escorted her home that night. And I don't think they will enter the home without her permission. I'm assuming 1 or maybe 2 Police officer was there, so if he stab her and ran out the back, they couldn't really done much since they would first need to enter the home through the front and tend to her. they wouldn't think about circling around the back of the home while the scene of danger was within the home.

and just as everyone is talking about Japanese politicians and their inappropiate and insensitive words and actions, China has to one up Japan.

China needs to get the last words in.... of who is more stupid. China needs to be first in stupidity or else....

Regarding China's claim to Okinawa, known as Ryukyu's Islands: Ryukyu kingdom were a tributary state during the feudal period, it's not like China directly controls and adminster the affairs of the Ryukyu's. it was the same as the Joseon (Korea) and other tributary vassal kingdoms to China, of which Japan wasn't one. So there claim is just irrelevant in this here modern times. The former vassal state would just tell China to shut it.

**Yubaru*** MAY. 11, 2013 - 09:49AM JST* I'm surprised Kim didn't front the money. Things must be pretty tight in NK too!<

Actually, Kim been receiving money from the Chongryon in Japan, not the other way around. Through a ferry, these North Koreans peddled luxury goods and finances to Fatty Kim.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is really a hypocrite here. US and several other nations had also done this and still been doing it now, yet he singled out Japan. Like The pot calling the kettle black.

What WTH is Lew thinking telling Japan what and what not to do? They are "warning" Japan, a sovereign nation? Idiot.

This is why I support a stronger Japan as it will counter China and stands of closer-to-equal footing with both China and USA, militarily.
Japan should at the very least be strong enough to defend the nation, it's people and properties rather than having to rely on a foreign power like the USA, who sometimes have conflicting interests with Japan.
Japan should assert itself more on the International stage without the stigma as a puppet of USA. And also to deter China, North Korea and other hostile state against Japan.
Bully picks on weaker nations then themselves, while acknowledging strong nations, like how China is to several nations it have disputes with, like Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia and India.
Best way to stop a bully is to stand up to it, and Japan is, with the backing of the USA, but Japan needs to assert it's own authority over it's own territories and be an example for the bullied nations.

Japan increasing it's Defensive capabilities, independant of USM will more of less curb China's aggressive policy since it will mean that China is not the only soverign military power in East Asia.

Japan SDF is technologically superior to the China PLA, but it won't last long if Japan SDF sits idly by while PLA is rapidly growing.

I'm in support of the upgrading of the Self-Defense Forces, but other changes of the constitution, I don't have much opinion about that.

My reason would be that while America does protect Japan from foreign Aggression. The USA power and influence is definitely waning. Their economy is slowly rising from years of recession as well. And while they protect Japan from aggressive states like China and North Korea, there are conflicting interests. China owns half of USA's foreign debt. This surely comes into serious consideration.

with USA in decline, Japan needs to take serious steps to boost it own defense capabilities. Upgrading the SDF is only the first step.

It would also give Japan more leeway from USA and international prestige if it can increase it miltiary capabilities.

from the looks of things, nations like Philipines, Vietnam and India, as well as other nations in conflict with China will be looking to Japan to restrain China's aggressive takeovers of their territories.
some of them even voice their approval of Japan military upgrade.

@ Yubaru. Because it's a matter of local and national pride. This young Japanese teenager, Yoshihide Kiryu, is very close in breaking that 100-meter in under 10 second. If he succeed, then he'll be Japan's first to join that exclusive group.
Japan is a nation that loves and respect sports. For them to have one of their own on the summit of the Athletic World is something they can take pride in and boasts about. Especially in times of hardships, to see other succeeds inspire and motivate them. For instance, Japan national Baseball team won 2 consecutive World Baseball Classic (2006, 2009) help inspire the nation in times of recession. While the Nadeshiko, Japan's women football team, won the 2011 FIFA Women World Cup raise the spirits of the entire nation.

All Sporting events stir such feelings everytime one takes place, and in all people. Even if they know nothing of the sport, people still root for their own.

despite knowing tigers are ferocious and dangerous creatures, when they're not scaring you with their teeth, they are just as cute and lovely as any pets, especially their feline relatives, cats and kittens.

Again, Yasukuni Shrine enshrined about 2.5 million dead dating all the way back to the Boshin War of the 1860's who fought and died for the Emperor and took control from the Tokugawa Shogun forces.

Countries like China and the Koreas are only looking at the 14 Class A Criminals and maybe the soldiers who died in the war against them. Every national and it's citizens honor it's war dead, so should Japan.

like a spoiled brat making a scene to get attention. But the world needs to realize to ignore his words while watch his actions.
I don't believe North Korea would take any action that would jeopardize it's existence, but it might self-imploded and might possibly want to take others down with them, either ROK or Japan since it's their closest enemies.

The best thing is to ignore them and wait for them Kim Jong Un to start BEGGING for aid...

The laser thing was despicable, it could really cause damage to the eyes. but despite that, Japan had many chances to score and win, but terrible finishing hurt their chances to qualify with this match. I hope the Samurai Blue learn an important lesson and not be so wasteful.
However it sets a bigger stage in the upcoming Australia match @ home. If Japan wins against Australia, all the Japanese fans can celebrate it in Saitama, Tokyo and all over Japan. That is, if they win.... I hope for the best from Japan's Samurai Blue and qualification to the FIFA 2014 Brazil World Cup.

Maybe after the movie, the American public, it's it a huge hit, will ask the Pentagon for a pre-emptive strike.
Considering how erratic and crazy the North Korean govt are behaving, it might make sense.

is this related to the methane hydrate extraction off the pacific coast as well?
oh, wait, methane hydrate news say it is a energy source while this rare earth deposits are for something else. if Japan can really utilize this, it can become self-sufficient in energy and technological resources.

3 Years? 8-10 should've been the minimum. such heinous crimes should not be so lightly punished. They drugged and raped the 2 ladies. one were strangled and died. But in and of itself, still a heinous crime.

I also wonder what the US govt and embassy are doing regarding to this. also, if they are to return to USA, will they be registered as sex offenders or not? are they helping Tokyo in anyway they can, are they requesting they served their sentences in USA or fine with them in Japanese prison.

Japan should use this to bolster it's armed forces, the Self-Defense Forces. for example, JMSDF should use this opportunity to ask for aircraft carriers, or an even bigger "Helicopter Carriers", or that Japan Coast Guard should get ships, weapons and technologies on par with JMSDF.
