To the posters bad mouthing this matcha beer before they've even tried it -
I tried it. Nice! It tastes basically like cold, refreshing green tea, with a beer kick. You get a steaming hot cup of delicious hojicha as well as a couple of little sembei and a little tsukemono with it for your 800 yen. I also recommend their hojicha warabi sweets.

There's nothing wrong with riding a bicycle on the sidewalk as long as you go slow, give way to pedestrians, don't ring your bell at 'em unless you've got 2 or more of 'em spread out blocking the entire sidewalk as they walk in 1 direction, and don't hit anybody.
Posted in: Road traffic laws in Europe and the United States are simple, whereas in Japan pedestrians are always exposed to the risks of bicycles bumping into them from all directions...It is time for us to go back to the original point of the road traffic law, where bicycles and cars share the road.

"Thirty two of them ( Gitmo detainees ) are being fed through tubes"
This is ridiculous. If they don't wanna eat free meals, let 'em starve. But that being said, for the detainees for which there is no clear evidence of crimes, send them back to their home countries, whether their home countries want them or not.

ANA's not sneaky about anything. And I see some people complain about crappy food and airline staff with funky attitudes, must be they don't fly ANA.
Posted in: Do you think airlines are sneaky about fuel surcharges, fees for extra baggage and other charges for various services?

"he will not resign before the end of his mandate"
He doesn't have a mandate. He has power inherited from his daddy.
Probably he will have to be killed.

Hashimoto: The United States should face what the US military did against local women"
It has. The question is, when is Hashimoto going to face up to the fact that Japanese soldiers caused way more suffering to local women?

"Hashimoto, whose quick tongue and forthright approach has won him friends and enemies"
I wouldn't have Hashimoto or any of his "friends" over to my place for dinner.

"he said his remarks might have seemed inappropriate to people outside Japan with different values"
Or to Japanese people in Japan, I guess he missed all the criticism of his remarks by politicians of the other parties.
"he had no intention of retracting any of his earlier comments"
Oh well.

Posted in: China, Japan and South Korea say the Arctic will be important, and now is the time to set the table to allow them to do things there later on. That starts with the Arctic Council.

I would bet 10,000 yen that will not happen. He'll come up with some lame apology, and he'll continue as Osaka mayor.
