Erm, isn't it for the parties to decide upon the measures and then ask the public to vote on them?
Sounds like Ozawa is admitting the DPJ has no plans and is almost begging the public to help him out.
"Send your suggestions to DPJ headquarters and the best one gets 100,000 yen!"

I don't think so. Newspapers will respond by cutting costs or publishing a more selective entries online. There will always be people who want to buy something they can hold in their hands and read.

All I can say is "boooooring!"
Sure it may have entertained people with little taste, but from a critical point of view it wasn't stimulating at all. I saw it as a rather obvious attempt at nationalistic back-slapping (e.g. "lookie what we invented!").

Some countries just don't feel the military needs to be supported much. They probably just take it for granted.

Not necessarily - it might make things worse if people couldn't go back. They want to remain in Tibet, but they're tired of the oppression there.
No one would buy that.
Xinjiang has a very different history - it was under Chinese control a lot more than Tibet was.

It's a very poor choice. Teaching "patriotism" is too narrowly focused and suggests extreme nationalism.
However, I think that it is good to make children aware of good things about their country so that they can better appreciate it. Things like democracy and civil rights are often taken for granted, but they should make people feel "patriotic" to an extent.

So I suppose test-firing missiles over Japan was a sign of friendship by North Korea? Pyongyang regularly threatens Japan, so it's good that Tokyo has responded by ensuring any such pressure is useless.
By the way, given that the Patriot-3 is a US system it would be possible for Japan to hype its capabilities even if it wanted to - the data is already out there.

"It is a pity Princess Masako has not heard of Homeschooling."
Homeschooling will only isolate the young princess even more. An open school will be much better for her, especially if the law is not changed to allow her to sit on the throne - she would need to be able to survive in the world outside the Palace then.
Even if she became Empress one day it would still be good for her to make friends outside of royal circles.
