The British press, much more sympathetic than the American media to BP’s plight, has expressed disbelief at the company’s strategy.

"Reasoned" rather than "sympathetic" - the British press don't do sympathy.

“The military is facing a lot of pressure by our government to make nice of the Japanese.... It’s not just about saving dolphins. It’s about saving humans,” he said. “This kind of information needs to be freed.

Maybe they'd rather watch Universal Soldier 3 - the more I read about this bloke the more he portrays himself as the second bleeding coming.

The Japanese are not burdened down by religious morality: a spade is a spade, porn is porn.

And a pixel is a pixel.

So long as Rooney, $tevie G and Lampard stay fit and Cole's missus doesn't kill him between now and June we're in with a chance.

This type of finger-pointing reporting is getting tedious, predictable and smacks of hypocrisy.

Picking on the little guys abroad like in this piece who have been farming the seas sustainably for generations and trying to goad them into making a comment is pathetic.

The Cove came across as a one-sided, finger-pointing exercise in guilt relief for the director's past sins. Taiji is a much softer target than Seaworld or corporate America.

HeyLars - you need to read the thread again. Odogma's words, not mine. I too have no idea whether Obama agrees or disagrees.

This is not a spat. The Falklands belong to the UK. Debate closed.

    Obama disagrees.

Then Obama's grasp of international politics is weaker than most observers give him credit for. South America's dictatorships can sabre-rattle all they want but the USA's closest ally remains the UK - like it or not.

.... it’s about concerns over the fate of Japan’s corporations, its real estate, its food supply—even its women.

Glad to see JT keeping things in perspective.

Anyone who associates wearing your tie loose and your shirt untucked with displays of individuality, strength of character, non-conformism or assertiveness needs to cut down on how much TV they watch.

    258 British soldiers were killed

Close but no cigar - it was 255 British soldiers and 3 civilian islanders. A minor error but one which needs correcting given its significance following recent events in Helmand.

Frankly, when this spils over with racisim in the UK reaching chronic levels, I think you'll be surprised at how wrong you and your fellow Islamophobes are about the British Iskes, and how violent this will get.

You have a good point but no need to be quite so disparaging about us hicks back in Blighty.

I think it's very bad. Japan would have been better off keeping it's own traditions and not copying everything from America.

Seriously, you need to stop digging that hole for yourself.

In the event, eventually the UK taxpayers will cough up, and not some kind of shipping company.

Unlikely Brown will go Spanish on the electorate. Brits with far greater political significance have been sacrificed on the altar of non-concession than these two unfortunates.

Yea, nothing to see hear. Pretty much all the European broadcasters and an increasing number of FAs are in agreement that these things are a nightmare. Wouldn't be surprised if FIFA backs down on this one.
