This is going to absolutely launch Japan into a new age!!
On a more, "I'm getting serious here now" note, AI started on a good note, but has been putting out just few too many songs that bore and don't quite have the hooks.
Amuro seems to be holding steady after a few years of dipping in the early 2000s. Her recent stuff seems to be getting better and catchier, in my opinion.

Yeah, it became a contest as to who could keep from giggling first. I watched it with my wifey, too. Maybe watching two men writhing on a sled together will help keep couples together.

I watched tandem luging last night.........dude. One-man luge makes sense to me but two hairy men lying on top of each other wiggling a small luge doesn't feel good. Chop it!
Props to curling. It rocks.

I really think they should put rails on the edges of platforms. I keep seeing these very expensive and fancy wall type barriers with electronic doors that open when trains arrive.
But what I'm talking about is using simple metal pipes as a barrier. Like the ones you find surrounding swings at playgrounds. Most stations would be able to afford this. This would've most likely prevented this accident from happening.

Bazza that was a very helpful post. Thanks.
Kyokosmile, very sorry to hear about your situation. Please hang-in-there.
As Taj wrote, child custody laws in Japan would be of help to the author, not the Hague Convention. I hope for the sake of children and LBP, that the first is revised and the second will come into effect in Japan.

I don't think the Japanese take any of these "talent events" nor the "talents'" comments so seriously.
They tend to lightheartedly see them for what they are not be so judgemental.
Perhaps us readers could just lighten up a bit and maybe we'll live as long as the Japanese do.

Great idea. Wouldn't mind doing this myself. Just on the beach-side of Sea World is a long sandy beach which is relatively clean and has pretty good waves.
Why is the news location at the beginning of the article "Kanagawa"? Typo for "Kamogawa"?
Moderator: That typo has been corrected.

I think the "over reaction" has something to do with a whole family dying in a fiery crash after their Lexus flew down the road going over a 100 mph and not being able to stop due to a stuck accelerator.
There's been a large number increase in complaints about faulty accelerators since Toyota switched to a new system for many of their cars in 2003. This recall is not an over reaction but an over due one.

Ironic, eh? "Coming of Age Ceremony."
Since they've "come of age" the media should publish their full names and mention their families to bring a bit of shame to them.
Also don't know why their faces are blurred out. They're "adults" (superficially) and there's no doubt as to their guilt.
If I were 20 and in the ceremony, I'd be pissed if they screwed it up like that. A full beat down would be a good deterrence for future ceremonies.

If I were 4 or 5 years old, I'd get car-sick if I had to sit facing backward.
You could use this same safety logic for adults and have rear facing seats, which would be ridiculous.
Japan DOES needs to enforce the child-seat laws they already have on their books.

Selling daughters to brothels was not a very uncommon practice for the very poor, up to the early Showa period. (And this meant girls as young as 12 or less.) This mentality hasn't completely disappeared from Japan, as sick as it may seem to many people. As economic times get worse, we'll probably see more and more of this.

All these guys are lame. Many of the sports "heroes" of the 80's and 90's turned out to have been cheaters.
I'm glad I grew up before they came up on the scene, but I feel sorry for those kids who used to look up to these players as role models.
Ban McGwire (and the rest of their ilk) from baseball and coaching. There's got to be some kind of punishment for this aside from just taking their records off the books.

Ran into a cop that had just stickered a parking violation to my windshield. After I asked him about it, he asked me to go to the koban. While there, him and another clown thought "July" meant "6月" and had mistakenly thought my International driver's license had expired (which it hadn't). After explaining this to the clowns, they made what must have been ten phone calls asking lots of stupid questions.
They both had an arrogant stuck-up attitude the whole time barking questions at me, in between calls. After an hour I got fed up with them wasting my time and told them I was going to leave, otherwise arrest me. They finally gave me back my license and not a word of apology came out of their mouths for wasting my time.

The woman probably realized that she'd gone over the edge and called the police to prevent herself from ever doing this again. At least she turned herself in rather than covering this up. Unfortunately, this sounds like her cry for help.

Honestly, a "Keystone Cops" section is definitely needed. At first it was a joke, but seeing these stories DAILY has justified it. Come on JT. Do it!

The problem seems to be that Hatoyama's ministers say one thing, while he says another. The inconsistency between declarations is what makes people lose faith in Hatoyama's diplomatic abilities.
Posted in: If he keeps taking time on the Futenma issue and it drags into next year, people will think they cannot entrust diplomacy to Hatoyama.
