That feeling of not knowing where your toddler is, is one of the most awful that a parent can feel. Lucky for this family.

What a boring world we are creating for kids. No adventure, no fun, no growth. Except for the butts and tummies.

What about for people who can't sleep on the planes? That's my main problem.

不倫 (ふりん). This is the Japanese word for it and it isn't a katakana version for "fling". Japanese 101.

The "West" is made up of countries with shared geographical and historical backgrounds. Basically those countries with Latin/Greek historical roots (including racial) that evolved in Europe politically, socially, linguistically, and economically. The US is a direct extension of this.

Japan doesn't share these historical bonds. They're much closer to China historically. It's only until recently that Japan has adopted the Western economic/political model. But there's much more to being "Western" than that.

Why would the Winglet be okay but not the Segway? It seems to operate the same way, but it's just smaller and without handles. If it's banned for pedestrian use like the Segway was, then it's doomed to be a commercial failure.

Actually, this lightens up my days/nights and helps push me out of the door to work everyday.

Good looking women flashing skin gives me a warm-fuzzy feeling inside that makes the little ball of essence in me, smile.

I've always liked the way hookers dress, and wished that more "regular" girls would dress the same back in the States.

I'm glad Japan doesn't have a hang-up about women displaying their physical attractiveness through sexy clothes. (Except for the bad people who were surveyed for this poll.)

Bush is a criminal. Shame on ANYBODY who voted for this atrocity. Double that for anyone who voted that thing in twice!

Good idea. French fries and burgers don't necessarily go very well with coffee. Now I'll have something to munch on with my kohii while watching the pretties walk by. I give this idea a McYes.

I think it's about time the government set up a "snitch site" for Japanese to snitch on Japanese, like they do for Japanese snitching on foreigners.

I've never felt apprehension walking by another foreigner here in Japan, but have countless times felt a bit sketched-out by some the J-dude/nutters I've passed by or have had walking behind me.

Less effort on "controlling" foreign crime and stronger effort at curtailing J-crime. And publicize it as such! Almost everyone I know here has this distorted image that so much of the crimes are committed by non-Japanese.

It's always quite dangerous whenever you see Japanese men out and about. Be careful! They can't be trusted.

Why doesn't Osaka offer to buy "Taro" off the former restaurant owners and plant that freaky Osaka icon somewhere on/near the Ebisubashi Bridge or Dotonbori Kuidaore Street ?

If it's such a famous civic icon, do something to keep it! Osaka right now needs all the help and boost it can get - culturally and financially.

She didn't have to do any apologising whatsoever, but she chose to do so and in person. This is very admirable - no one else has come forward and did this.

All the detractors on this site seem to have something cynical to say no matter how positive a story or an act by a person may be.

A UN with China and Russia in it is an ineffectual UN. Too bad the those two were put on the Security Council to begin with. Biggest mistake. Kick those two out and replace them with Japan and Germany.

I think all those "little" municipalities that built unnecessary airports are going to be hurting. Have any of you been to Kobe Airport? Jesus, talk about waiting for a plane to come by! About one an hour! You can almost see Kansai Airport from there, too.

Perhaps this attitude by the Italians helps explain the ridiculous amount of graffiti there. It's ugly and shouldn't be tolerated. It would do them good to adapt the Japanese attitude and response to vandalizing World Heritage Sites (or anyplace else for that matter).

"There's a time and place for everything." Young people need to learn this and older people in society around the world are responsible for teaching this BY EXAMPLE (not just with words).

"When in Rome, do as the Romans." Talk about "leaders" of countries displaying a lack of tolerance and understanding of other cultures. This sets a really bad example for the millions watching from around the world.

Why do so many posters here find this hard to believe? He was a 60 year old robber who wanted some money, that's all - not murder anybody. Once she left some on the table, he left. She basically got mugged over a cup of tea.
