Dude, lighten up! You're definitely over-thinking this situation. You and Yuko are bi-lingual, so just accommodate each other and speak/write in both languages. I hope I don't run into someone who has all this floating through their heads when I talk/write to them. Jees!

Japan has to get over this crying at the drop of a hat BS. I agree that the fans were out of line and should've had their skulls smashed in but all this crying I see in sports, especially Koshien, doesn't carry over well on the rest of this planet.

Tokyoites vote in this governor time after time after time. What does this say about them? Are they not ashamed to have this person as their spokesperson?

The point is "It"S ME" is that the kids didn't have to die had the kindergarten followed guidelines (and common sense) of not driving near the ocean while knowing there was a tsunami warning in effect.

Whatever the amount the parents are suing the kindergarten/school district for is irrelevant as it's more of a call for some kind of punishment and acceptance of responsibility for making such a grave and stupid error.

In the 80s they were supposed to relocate some of the government ministries to Tsukuba to help decentralize a bit. We haven't heard a peep about this in the last 30 years and has conveniently been "forgotten" by the government bots in Tokyo. I wouldn't be surprised if this went the same way. Sorry to sound so pessimistic but like "sillygirl" said, "that old chestnut."

I would move out period if I lived in Fukushima-city or points east if I had children. Cancer/Radiation poisoning is serious stuff and I don't trust this government enough to take the necessary precautions to prevent this from happening. Better to take a drop in pay/lifestyle comfort now and to live than to have you and your offspring unnecessarily die because you couldn't bring yourself to relocate.

Again Tokyo elected this man to be their governor. This is a bad reflection on the people of this city and country.

China AGAIN. Never a dull moment with them. How big of an "incident" is this going to become? More blackmailing, embargos, canceling of school excursions, throwing rocks at Japanese consulates, travel bans?

Wearing a suit JACKET when it's blistering hot and jungle-like humid. They really need to match the clothes to the reality of the weather/climate here.

I wouldn't trust the Chinese military build up as being benign one bit. This country isn't trustworthy and hasn't shown much maturity in the events of the last few years (trawler incident, bullet train crash cover up, Nobel Prize winner lock-up, media censorship, rare earth metal import ban, etc. etc.)

I once watched a blind man walking in circles on the platform walking dangerously close to the edge a few time. After a couple of minutes of this I had to disembark from my train and run over there and help him out. What disturbed me was that so many people just stared at him and continued on walking. I think a little courtesy from strangers would go a long way in preventing the blind from getting themselves hurt/killed. This happened "where everyone is so talkative and friendly" Osaka.

I wouldn't give N.K. the time of day with all the promises they've broken in the past. They come up with new demands for restarting the 6-way talks every time. Tell them to take a walk.

charges of criminal negligence resulting in manslaughter

They really should upgrade the charges for "Leaving your kids to die in the car while you play pachinko" to 1st degree murder. I'm getting sick and tired of reading this headline over and over and over.

A big slap in the face to all those that died, were hurt, and maimed. A proper and open investigation would've been much less damaging to China's image than this cove-up fiasco.

Not to be uncaring to those whose homes are in Fukushima, since no one wants anyone advocating throwing away radioactive material near their homes. But the ground immediately surrounding the nuclear power plants there are done for that's why I think it makes for a good option.

Spidapig24JUL. 26, 2011 - 08:42PM JST Just had a read and its very interesting. If true it appears that Japan is doing to the nuclear disaster what China has done to the train accident!

Agree. The burning away the evidence to restore confidence to the public isn't unlike what China's doing with their bullet train disaster. The problem is that the distribution network has no safeguards against the contaminated meat from being checked or distributed.

Why don't they bury the beef where the ground is already known to be highly contaminated? -> Next to the Fukushima Dai-Ichi plant.

Speed, I wonder how this would be feasable with the tons of snow people from the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions have on their roofs?

When the sun's not out or there's snow on the roofs, then homes can revert to energy produced by their regional energy companies. Solar power isn't guaranteed 365 day a year but for many months of the year, it is a viable energy source.
