OK then. Let's not consider that the deceased may have wandered into the path of an oncoming vehicle leaving the driver no time to avoid a collision.
And let's not consider the fact that J-police would have arrested the said driver for reckless driving causing death despite the circumstance.
And finally, let's not consider that said driver knowing that he was probably heading to jail for an "accident" clearly not of his own making, decided to play the odds and flee the scene.
If that driver had been me, and knowing how things are done here concerning this type of accident, I too would have definitely had the urge to run.
The blame for running does not fall solely on the shoulders of the runner. Not by a long shot.

Q: "Why should we hire you?"
A: I'm unique.
Q: "What accomplishment are you most proud of?"
A: I've slept with over a thousand women...and you're next.
That should LAND you the job.

No doubt that this guy's a fan of bASS MASTERS, too. Also when living in a concrete jungle, what's a man to do? It's not like you can hop in the pick-up and head down to the creek for a quickie.

*You wouldn't hold a driver responsible if a person decided to throw himself/herself into the middle of a busy road. No matter how unbelievably stupid a pedestrian may be, the driver will ALWAYS be held responsible. Hence the strong desire to flee the scene of an accident. Even if you know it's not your fault.
And as for the witnesses? I wouldn't put to much confidence in them being an advantage to this guys situation.

Believe me incidents like these are the furthest things from the minds of Aso and his gang of old cronies. No intervention on the horizon.

I am now having the opportunity to see may baby daughter learning both Japanese and English. She is only 20 months old but she has already grasped the idea of both languages, using verbs, nouns correctly and so on. One thing that I have noticed is how easily the Japanese language is spoken in respect to babies. The phonetics of spoken Japanese are very basic and seem to roll off the tongue much more naturally when compared to English. Especially the verb conjugations. ...ta, ...ka, ...ru These sounds seem very natural for a baby to pronounce and therefore easier to learn. As one poster said, "speaking Japanese is not that difficult." Especially for babies. But writing on the other hand...

Suicide only benefits the one who is committing it. Those left behind in its wake must deal with the repercussions it brings. Granted it takes a cetain level of courage to do it, however when that courage is motivated by shame and guilt, it truly is the easy way out. And having a society that puts little value on one's own existence coupled with the misplaced sense of honor that it brings doesn't help.
