Zen, all the things that you have mentioned, being up/downstairs, doing laundry and so on, all take place inside the home. THIS MOTHER WASN'T EVEN IN THE SAME BUILDING! A NEIGHBOR DISCOVERED THE BODY! Surely some blame has to fall on the absent mother.

Zen Builder, you never cease to amaze me. Is the word "irresponsibility" not found in the "Zen Dictionary?!"

Time to get off your high horse and meditate a little.

Being in the same room when something like this happens is one thing but not even being in the same building is quite another!

    Negligence...plain and simple.

This is what happens when banks fail to install drivethru ATMs. The cutomers take matters into their own hands. Or feet as it were.

What a great way to busy up the local j-police.

"Hey! I just saw a really big crocodile in the river. Send all available police to search for it." "Right away, sir."

    Meanwhile...

They look about as coordinated as a bunch of 2-headed mules.

Now if they were all holding their bikini tops instead of plastic balls in their hands, I would be much happier. ^_^

Sarge...I was referring to the heat resistant look and colour of the cloth and the plastic looking screw on legs. Maybe one of them is a known pyromaniac. But come to think of it...my ironing board IS shaped like that. Go figure.

I'm in accordance with smartacus on th****is**** one. Yes, these things happen. And yes, they will continue to happen. And double YES, these things can be prevented! When we look back at our own cultures, let's say about 20 to 30 years ago, we as societies would do things that we would never dream of today. Not buckling up our kids among other things come to mind. (Japan being the exception) We were all raised in, I hope, a more naive society when it came to known dangers. Our experiences have taught us that in order to survive we must learn from our mistakes. And as a general rule, societies generally learn and evolve.(Again Japan not applicable)

    WE KNOW BETTER NOW!!

Do we always have to argue about what "WAS" when it has no bearing on what "IS"!?

Just because some of us were LUCKY to survive doesn't mean that our kids will be!

Be afraid people! You never know where or when it's gonna come from! Keep your eyes open and your kids close!

...but not too close because "KIDS" can sometimes be the most dangerous of them all. As we have all seen and read.

You are either referring to your own "Happy Day" or else the day that the BIG FOUR met in Geneva. Or it could be both for that matter.

"I lost my temper?? To a baby??"

A crying baby will test the temperment of ANY good soul, whether male or female. And especially if the person is not equipt to deal with such a situation. And clearly this lad was not.

There's a good reason why psychological torture tactics employed by some police and military agencies include very loud and persistant crying babies. They are very effective.

"I'd love to see the building of the Pyramids or the Great Wall of China"

Oh yeah...and how about Stonehenge or the Moais on Easter Island? Or even to go back to the Planes of Nazca in Peru to see just how those massive land drawings were made.

I'd also like to go back and have a chat with DaVinci.

Hmmm...cutting off Columbus's head sure does sound appealing.

If money was my motivation, I'd have to say that I would go back and buy a whole "beep" load of stock in Microsoft or Ford Motor Company when they were just starting out. Or buy a whole lot of real estate on Manhattan Island when it was dirt cheap. If history's mysteries was my motivation, the birth of Christ and His subsequent ressurection would be cool to witness. And if preventing one of history's darkest hours, I would say early 20th century Germany to prevent a certain man from rising to power. Again, "cutting off a head" comes to mind.
