    Wonders never cease!

I'm sure the cops will be able to take advantage of this and beat out one or two more confessions out of the guy.

It's not hard to see why the guys are all smiling in this pic. I would be too, from her ear to ear.

The woman on the right is thinking, "Take the damn picture already! I can't hold this smile forever!" The kimono clad chick on the left is thinking, "If this guy doesn't take the picture soon, my arm is going to fall off!" And the asian looking dude behind the blonde chic is just laughing at the both of them.

    Magnificent castle though.

They all look a little suspect. Especially the one on the right. And the one in the middle looks like she's thinking..."there's a sucker born every minute..."

This is simply unbelievable. I'm literally (((quaking)))in my boots.

So what would have happened if the dog DID find it?

"Sorry for the delay, sir. We're trampling on your human rights in order to better test our security protocals."

    SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE!!!

My thoughts are more focused on the word "apparent" written in the article. I, for one, would like to see more effort in proving that a suicide actually took place. If I was the type to off somebody, I would make sure for it to look the "suicide of the day." That way the authorities in their all assuming wisdom would easily and conveniently write it off. Sadly however, this probably was a suicide, considering the society in which it took place.

Another soul "written off" that could have been saved.

Being a parent I find it hard to fathom the idea of my 5 year old daughter walking THESE NARROW JAPANESE STREETS without someone to watch over her where so many drive with reckless abandon. YES! The old man was probably at fault for hitting the young boy but there is also another big YES! to the parents who let their child be in a situation that with "street smarts" was unable to fully understand. And for those of us that DO live in Japan we know all to well how children and adults alike pay little attention to the machines of the road that can take you out in a blink of an eye.

I would agree with you posters if the accident happened while there was an adult around. But I have to disagree due to the fact that these kids were on their own. IMHO, kids at this age are far to young to be playing around in the streets. They are completely naive to the dangers around them. Have at me all you will, posters. I won't be changing my opinion any time soon.

BTW...whether I am male or female is completely irrelevant.

"Spidey you never went running around your neighborhood with your friends when you were 5?"

First of all, this is not 35 years ago when most societies were oblivious to certain dangers that societies take for granted today. Well most societies anyway. Secondly, NO. I was not permitted to run around in the street unsupervised until I was much older. My mother always saw to it that there was someone around to keep an eye on us. Not a difficult thing to comprehend considering that there are so many ways to get into trouble both then and especially now.

"Kenta Komatsu, 6, who was walking on the sidewalk with his friend around 5 p.m." A 6 year old and his friend? Who the hell was supervising these youngsters?! Is it not against the law to have children of this age running around in public without proper supervision?!

    Completely unavoidable.

I never thought I would ever be saying this but I have to agree with whatanidiot.
Leaving the little one secure in his room while doing household chores is perfectly normal. The fact that he hung himself on his backpack while it was hanging up was a freak accident to say the least. I don't think any of us parents could have seen that coming. Until now of course. Falling from his balcony however could possibly have been avoided. How he survived a 9 storey fall I'll never know.

    Rest in peace little angel

So I am guessing that he loved his kids and was driven to this rage by a woman who would not allow him joint custody. Just a guess but it seems so. I really cannot understand why some woman do that. Use their kids as a weapon to hurt their ex husband. Only the kids get hurt. People need to abandon their selfish stances for the sake of children. If the man was willing to stick around and help out, great! well, she paid the ultimate price but the kids are the ones who suffer the most.

What the hell is all this nonsense/BS? Assuming much are we? Nowhere in the said article does it say that she prevented her ex-husband from seeing their kids. And even if she did, it seems that it would have been a wise choice considering what happened to her.

    I'm still scratching my head...

Whether we are single or married, both are fraught with compromises. The grass always seems to be greener no matter which way we choose. I can tell you that after being married for just over a year and a half, my life has changed more than in the 20 years previous. And I must say that it has been for the better. However, there are still things that I wish I could have or have kept that a single life only has to offer. Of course some people choose to make their cake and eat it too. The biggest compromise of them all.

A clear "work/life balance" is needed. Once a balance is achieved, many of the social problems will start to be rectified. The government needs to step in to set labour policies to get the ball rolling.

Children's Day!? So according to this holiday all children are boys? What are the girls, sub-children? Children wannabes? Talk about instilling a sense of inferiority at an early age. Yes, I know that Girl's Day is on March 3 so shouldn't this be called "Boy's Day?"

Yes...everyday whilst waiting at the red light I see a mother or father sitting behind the wheel with their seatbelt secured while their little one is standing, playing, jumping or all of the above. My first instinct is to honk the horn and say... Me: Yo mama, why are you wearing your seatbelt? J-driver: Safety drive, of course. Me: So what about your kid? No safety drive? J-driver: Eeeeeto...sooodesuneee.. And then they drive away...

    Pathetic
