@realist
Well, I realise it mate, you will see I refer to the alignment being given to Keisei.
I think this guy's grouch is that it isn't fast enough. There is no real speed up within Tokyo itself on the Keisei route. And it doesn't run to Tokyo station.

Mmm ... a team led by a right wing xenophobe.
No thanks.
Posted in: We are not led by the big stars. We don't have Barack Obama, we don't have Michael Jordan. But again I have to state that the Olympics is not staged by the person, it is won and staged by a team. We are promoting the team and the city itself.

Sounds like a great year for Chicago. And Obama will be backing their bid.
Maybe Aso can lend Ishihara a hand. Ha!Ha!Ha!

I wondered how long it would take the irrational xenophobic element to enter into the argument. As if returning Japanese aren't going to bring the virus with them undetected?

Well, from a career perspective, 'not doing it with her' might have been a much wiser choice.

Well, read this four times and I'm still quite unclear as to what the author is trying to say.
Obviously Obama is much more interested in developing the right relationship with PRC. Why wouldn't he be? With the current quality of political leadership here Japan isn't really even a serious player in terms of international diplomacy

Umm ... I think there was quite a debate around this point fought out with shields and batons in the fields around Sanrizuka 30-40 years ago. I also seem to remember that about two million people in Chiba-ken and eastern Tokyo-to pretty strongly disagreed with the idea. The earmarked route has eventually gone to Keisei thirty years later.
Airline bosses always assume the rest of the world exists only to boost their balance sheets. We have the same problem in London at the moment around extensions to Heathrow where I predict politicians and corporate lobbyists will receive the same bloody noses that their Japanese counterparts did.

Amazing how hard it can be to communicate simple facts.
Let me state it as simply as I can. There were 1300 homicides last year. Some journalist who doesn't know what 'homicide' means has written 1300 'murders'
Homicide is unlawful killing. Last year there were about 400 murders in Japan and 900 other unlawful killings - mainly manslaughter cases.
Hope this clarifies it

Yes this data is incorrect. The 1,300 value refers to unlawful homicides, not murders.
Looking on the internet it seems several journalists have made this mistake with the 2008 data

No time to check the detail this morning but it looks to me like there is something very wrong with this data, perhaps someone has misinterpreted the press release.
I think the 1,300 refers to all homicides, not just murders. In most juristictions 'homicide' includes not only capital murders but also all forms of manslaughter (e.g. causing death by dangerous driving), which of course account for the majority of incidents.

Japan sure as heck needs a change pretty soon. Aso isn't even funny any more and the LDP are building up a mountain of economic problems for the country.

Interesting nobody has raised the question here of non-nationals being given the vote.
In the EU if we live in another country we are entitled to vote in local and EU (not national) elctions. So if I live in France I can vote in local mayoral and city council elections even though I'm British.
I can't see any good reason why I don't have that right as a registered resident (spouse of Japanese national) here. I pay local taxes and as a 'citizen advisor' to the city on planning issues I get far more involved in local issues than 99% of Japanese residents.
If you want people to be involved in the community they should have the right to vote on how their taxes are spent.
With the number of international marriages this is becoming a serious issue. 'One person one vote' should be the rule for all residents. And no taxation without representation.
