Lack of unity within the DPJ I agree with. Kan hasn't done a good job with leading his party. But that is not helped by idiots like Ozawa that care more about their political career than they do about Japan. The mess in the DPJ is not making this easy for Kan, but it is not helped by those using this situation to wield their power and try to make their careers through this. In terms of managing the disaster, I don't think anyone could have done a better job than Kan has. People say there is "no clear strategy for disaster relief". Easy stuff to say, but what are you expecting? A nice document that says clearly "this is how we are going to do it". Come on, nobody could predict this happening, and therefore it is a case of reacting to situations as they happen. You can't be pro-active in a natural disaster crisis, you have to be reactive, and things happen while you are reacting, so you have to react to your reactions.... there is always going to be some failures, and some mess ups, because you only have time to call it once. It is only now that Kan and his people have the time to actually be pro-active and build the platform for recovery. Only now do we know enough to make these decisions, and as some of them are pretty long-term, it is not possible to whip them together tomorrow. Rather than talking about what didn't happen (which is never going to because it is past us now), I hope the people around Kan can support him to now show the leadership he needs to. The thing I do like about Kan is he genuinely has the best for Japan in his heart, and he is doing his best for his country. He may not be flashy, but he is genuine. He may not have perfect body language, but he is genuine. I would choose that over any other.

I'm with you Mikehuntez. How about Muslim society getting out there to hunt down the bad in their society, and show the world that they are worth believing? I say the better image starts with "good Muslims" saving the rest of the world from the terror their bad brothers are causing. Changing the angle on Hollywood movies doesn't touch the reality of the situation.

That is an awful thing to happen to anyone. However, as per miamum, I agree that what is also stupid that you can be charged with murder for hitting somebody that jumps out in front of your car.

The author touches on everything that annoys me on every flight I have ever been on. If you don't agree, you are selfish flyer, and the reason why the rest of us get upset. Oh and MrDog, do you really think a whole plane load of mobile phones and other computer devices would not interfere with plane communications if allowed. Maybe you should stop thinking just about yourself.

Get over it. You want to travel you give up your privacy. If you live an "open" life, none of this concerns you. If you are afraid to open up then stop complaining, as it is only going to get worse.

We are mad they say; those of us who find it hard to believe. Well, I find the magic bullet difficult to comprehend. This has amazing contrast to the felling of 3 WTC buildings on the same day, with almost uncanny precision, straight to the ground just like a demolition site, when only 2 buildings were hit way up high. Nothing anywhere in this discussion has made what happened believable. You can give technical explanations through someone's reports, but in the end the probability of this happening 3 times on one day in almost identical fashion just is far to uncanny. Somebody provided info and photos on the Pentagon crash. I looked at it objectively, and I see no more need to question what happened. Someone answered my doubts. Nobody has convincingly done that for the WTC. That is all most of us want. A believable explanation.

I have a question that has never been answered. There was a plane that supposedly crashed into the Pentagon. However, the only photographs available show a hole in a building with no plane to be seen (and planes have wings that would make it impossible to make a nice round hole in a building). So where did the plane go?

Did the cabinet get together and make a decision? Or did Hatoyama make the decision and then ask for support. How does Hatoyama expect his cabinet to suppport his actions if he doesn't have their buy in BEFORE announcing a decision? The cabinet needed to thrash this out a long time ago. Hatoyama has now made a dick of himself by having to remove someone as he failed to get their buy in. What happens when the next issue comes up and the same has to be done? He fires the next person who doesn't buy in? This is the basics of working with a team of people. Do you really think it is Japan's interests to continue with this puppet of a leader?

"Yr sanma story is just another example of just how cold too many Japanese are, the sad thing here is many J-dads seem to quite easily opt out of their kids lives, classic example was koizumi/PMinister."

This is not the coldness of Japanese people. It is the result of the system that does not properly deal with these issues, mental and physical disabilities and much more. The system is backward. J Dads are like any Dads anywhere in the world. In the Japanese "system", J Dads, due to the system, sacrifice being with their children to provide for their children. It is culturally different to the west, but it should be understood. They are not cold, the system makes them cold.
