I've been hearing about this a lot on television and radio. I really sympathize with the school, it's a real damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Let's face it, these days if there's any possibility of physical injury to a child, schools are ripe for litigation.

While I don't in the least support the pope's stay, it's nice to see a lot of tourists around and enjoying themselves, if only it were for a healthier event.

I don't think at all that there's a good case for calling Australians racist (after all the 'riot' in Bondi was motivated by specific racially-motivated gang attacks in a particular suburb). That said, I don't think attacks like this are caused by giving them too little respect, and it's certainly not going to make them any more respected.
