Par for the course. The Palestinian attack isn't reported on until Israel responds, then the response is headlined as "Israel attacks."
Most likely taken to the grave by the militants as a way to make for a good source of sympathy from those who don't want to think about the Palestinians attacking Israel.
I suppose we could round out the top 5 with the prison camps - oops, I mean refugee camps - that Palestinians are forced to live in in surrounding Arab nations. But it's hard to keep Israel the focus when you mention what other Arabs are doing so it's best to just ignore them.

Mr Buffett explained that, like many top earners, his income came entirely from investments rather than from employment, which are subject to lower taxes in the US.
He said last year he paid an effective tax rate of 17.4%, less than the 33% to 41% paid by the employees in his office.
He dismissed arguments made by senior Republicans, including John Boehner, speaker of the House of Representatives, that taxing higher earners more would damage investment and job creation in the US.
"I have yet to see anyone... shy away from a sensible investment because of the tax rate on the potential gains," he said.

Back to the British riots...
Would you be against arresting any of the people who broke laws during the riots? For example if you had positive identification of a looter through photo of video evidence, do you think that person should be arrested and charged with a crime?

On the rise again? Do you have numbers for the year? You know how it goes, Madverts. Any stretches of peace and Iraq is completely ignored by the media. Kill 60 people, and suddenly "attacks are on the rise." On the rise because they don't happen very much anymore so when an attack happens it's going to be a rise.
Remember Iraq's attempt at an Arab spring in 1991? Saddam slaughtered 60-100k when they rose up against him. Assad is feeling pressure because his crackdown has killed - wait for it - 1,300 people!! Maybe if Ghaddafi holds onto power for another 30-40 years he'll reach Saddam's number, but the Europeans are busy bombing him on humanitarian grounds so he might not last that long.
I think you meant "had embraced." Most of the killing is over despite your best efforts to characterize Iraq as bad today as it was 7 years ago. And you'll notice there's no "Arab Spring" for Iraq today while there are protests and killings in just about every country around it. Perhaps another repeat of 1991 would be happening now, but if you don't consider the alternative then I suppose it just isn't part of the debate.

In the Shiite uprisings in Iraq it's estimated that 60,000 to 100,000 were killed when they tried to overthrow Saddam, and the world yawned. I'm sure Assad isn't losing any sleep.

So it looks like it's going to be Romney.
Bachmann just seems like the garden variety religious nutjob. It's not surprising when people like her "take the lead" when they have churches working behind her. Probably very organized and able to get some early votes, but getting into bed with that camp puts a ceiling on how high you can climb. Over time she'll fade as people other than religions zealots take to the polls.
The good thing is that she might be able to steal some thunder from Palin, making her even more irrelevant.

This woman has no purpose whatsoever. She arrives and the media sends the message that she arrived. Soon she will leave and the media will talk about the fact that she was there. Other than that, there is absolutely nothing else to report.

Too much of one side. In my opinion, as someone who was in LA during the LA riots.....
Things like this usually do start with a spark, and it is usually because of an injustice, and it usually is because the injustice has gone on for too long. That's how it starts. But, in my opinion, the thugs quickly take over and turn it from a social message to "lets steal everything we can get our hands on." That's to say these people in this area do have legitimate gripes. I saw an interview with a black man talking about how often his grandson has been stopped and searched by police. I believed him. BUT....
It doesn't mean you ignore the message or the thugs. Right now I think the thugs have control of the message and that's not good. Their actions are counterproductive. I'm not going to sit here like tkoind2 and forgive everything I see and say that people aren't responsible for their own actions, and I'm not going to sit here and say to shoot protesters on site. Not everyone is stealing.
The police have to move in an restore order. Then you can work on dialogue. You have to get the thugs out of the picture who are in it only for personal gain. There are people who will seek to sweep the injustices under the rug and blame it all on the violent ones, and there will be people who will excuse the violent ones by mistaking it for legitimate protest. That's what the UK has to navigate through.

hehe Well it is nice to see someone who remembers the old Sushi....the one who said he would never travel to America, would never do business with an American company, would limit his contact with Americans. Now he wraps himself in the American flag and creates positions where the end result always points to YOU wanting to destroy the US. Why? Because after years of searching he's found his position: Calling Americans anti-American. Pretending to love the US while throwing the "anti-American" phrase around is a much better position than his straight-forward anti-American rhetoric that he used for years. It works well on the newbies, but it's nice to see others who know that Sushi simply does not say what he believes because he is a coward. Always was, always will be.

Generally speaking, you're right. But with respect to the debt ceiling issue, you're not. Even the head of S&P's rating division made two major points when discussing the downgrade. One was that letting the tax cuts expire would have helped greatly. The other was that the debt ceiling should have been a no-brainer raise like it's always been. That's his polite way of saying that Republican policies were the two biggest factors in the downgrade. And the downgrade is the catalyst for the current stock market drop.
Yes, I know Republicans will simply point to Obama in the White House and say that he's sitting in the chair so ultimately he's the one responsible for Republican tactics that created the drop. But that's only because they need a scapegoat for their unworkable policies and they have supporters who will believe what they want to believe.

Did you read the article? Or the headline? He said markets will rise and fall but US credit is still safe. The yield on bonds went down.

The comments aren't wrong, but they are coming from the mouths of the same people who have artificially kept their currency low in order to manipulate the market into producing massive cash reserves. It's sort of like saying, "We've worked hard to cheat, and now you're ruining all of that."

Well everyone knows it's the Democrats who have long championed cuts in social security. It's not like you're a Republican siding with the party that guarantees that couple making over $250,000 a year keep their tax breaks while you lose your social security. Keep fighting the good fight. You're on the right side.

Please hurry and make a choice. No new taxes and a massive deficit and debt, or let the tax cuts expire on the rich and reduce the deficit. You're making stuff up to create a fantasy world with unicorns and the ability to reduce the debt without new sources of revenue.

On a positive note it is nice to see Republicans back and posting again. During the last week of the debt ceiling crisis it seems they all took some time off.
