It's like Republicans are just acting out of spite now. We last heard from Trump when he was a birther. He quickly became a joke. Look at Palin and Bachman. Or Cain and Gingrich. The more of a joke these people become the more support they get. It's like a race to the bottom.

You can't arrest him because it would do more harm to the system than good. No one will take anything seriously anymore if Bush were brought in on war crime charges for water boarding. It would be like arresting a secretary at AIG for fraud while letting the really bad managers live in their mansions.

But wait, he said he did it in response to government policies. I've heard about this being done in other parts of the world and the chorus usually starts with, "Well, he does have a point".

Overall not much can be done. It's Iran. They'll continue to get their little pot shots in. The world will express outrage with statements but not much else will change. Hawks will call for force that will never come. Liberals will use irans actions against the UK to condemn the US. And tomorrow will be Thursday.

Just-a-guy: Unlike Japan, no people in China will behaves 'submmissive' like Japnese does to foreign troops stepping on soil! Japan wants to build their own aircraft carriers as well, just there was a 'noose' around her neck that forbidden her to do so...japan was just jealous instead of talking peace!

Well I think the whole problem started with Japanese troops pretty much stepping all over China's soil at will, was it not? Then the US got invoved and saved the Chinese.

The Republicans are dinosaurs fighting hard against extinction. Just look at their Presidential candidates. They're mostly looking to be slaves to keep their narrow-minded contingency happy. In the end thy are just fragmented fractions. They know they have no chance at the White House anymore so they are just looking to protect what they have left and if it means dragging us all down then so be it.

The law might be on the books for statutory rape but in terms of sentencing it's mostly a crime that only men are found guilty of to any real extent.

“I said at the time, this is a bubble ... this is impossible. It turned out unfortunately I was right,” Gingrich said.

I wasn't in the room, I don't know anyone from either side, but I'm going to ahead and claim that this statement is complete and utter political bullshit.

jforce: Not paying the players in the biggest sporting business in the US is slave labour. And don't start with the "they get a free education argument" either.

OK, let's hear your plan for paying players. My school is pretty rich and famous. I have to admit I'm intrigued by the idea of buying the next 10 national championships.

You can't completely fault Paterno and you can't completely exonerate him, either. Not too many people would feel comfortable leading the charge to the police without going through higher ups in the university system. At the end of the day he's just the football coach, not a legal rep for Penn State. Others have the responsibility to deal with the police on behalf of the university and they were the ones who did not act.

Supposedly Paterno reported the incident then followed up a second time. After that it's hard to know what his responsibility is. It's one accusation from one person. And my guess is that he assumed the university investigated it since they have a duty to. It's rational t think that the university did investigate and did not find enough evidence, or found the accusation to be false, etc. We will never really know what they said to him. In th end it's hard to pass a sniff test, though.

driveshaft.....the Penn State issue reflects a problem. There were a few people who were told of the abuses and those in position of power did nothing about it. Years passed and the ones who handed over the information never did anything when they realized nothing was being done. At that point you have to start wondering how many more kids were abused while no one did anything.

You messages seems more like paranoia directed at the government...

What makes you think due process isn't being done? My personal opinion isn't relevant to the authorities.
