tkoind2: Elbuda. I think you can easily make the argument the other way. The west is also eager for a war with Iran. It would give them more control over the global oil supply and rid them of a potentially powerful rival state in the region.

No one is eager to make war with Iran. The world has bent over backwards with negotiations in an effort to prevent conflict. The new round of measures is yet another attempt to bring Iran in line with the international community without any shots fired. If people were eager, the war would have already started. Instead, Iran is on the verge of nukes. In some cases the attempt to prevent conflict leads to a much greater one down the road. Hopefully that won't happen here.

As for the oil soil, no one will control it except for the Iranians, with or without a war. It's as simple as that. Even the US is pretty far down on the Iraqi oil list despite what the bumper sticker crowd wants to sell.

It will be justified as providing the region with freedom and for ridding the world of leaders heading towards WMD production. Sound familiar?

One can easily point to North Korea and Pakistan to show what happens when the world sits on their collective asses and does nothing. But in the end each situation needs to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. Simply throwing out the word "Iraq" is meaningless unless you want someone to throw the words "North Korea" right back at you. Then we can start over from the beginning and get down to the nuts and bolts of this specific case.

I think the world sees a very real, very unified opportunity to stop a country like Iran from getting nukes and all measures are being exhausted. Personally, I think they're doing the right thing.

I never really had a problem with rich guys in government, but times have changed. It does make me wonder how he views things in the business world. There is a definite top class of businesspeople who mostly see the company as a means to enrich themselves personally, even if it's at the expense of the workers or the community. Guys at that level have lost all concept of what a single dollar is and they often throw around millions between friends in business practices like they are peanuts.

Russia—which strongly opposed the EU sanctions—said in a statement: “Under pressure of this sort, Iran will not make any concessions or any corrections to its policies.”

Please tell me what concessions/corrections Iran has agreed to after a decade of negotiations.

They are going to have to figure out a way where there can be some harmless distribution without sites like MegaUpload being allowed to thrive.

Cletus: So its not ideal if they have a nuclear weapon

Yeah, it's not ideal. Kind of like when I get my slacks from the cleaners and they fold them to put them into a bag. Not really ideal, but I live with it. Good point.

No one is defending the soldiers, but it is fair to stand up to those who want to pretend that all soldiers behave this way.
