It amazes me how people can spew nonsense about tax fairness when nearly HALF of all U.S. households do not pay ANY federal income taxes. And many of those households, on top of not having any tax liability, get an Earned Income Tax Credit which gives them their Social Security premium back without having any loss of their future benefits. Then there is the Dependent Child tax credits for even more money sent to people who didn't owe any tax - $4 billion of which was paid just last year to illegal aliens alone, according to a just released audit.
The top 10% pay 75% of all income taxes....and yet people claim "they don't pay their fair share"? No wonder Obama is getting nowhere with his attempt to incite class warfare to cover up his utter failure to keep and create jobs. It is just unbelievable.

Every four years we're told that erections have consequences. This is most certainly true.

It closed like four years ago. Anyway, Starbucks was a welcome addition to the Tokyo market in the mid-90's. Doutor was the only choice for those wanting a quick coffee fix. If it is too expensive for you, don't go. It is amazing how obsessed with Starbucks the folks who claim not to like it are.

The high yen is definitely a big factor along with air fares. One thing I've been frustrated about in family trips in the past in Japan is the difficulty of booking rooms for two adults and two kids. Japanese hotels simply don't cater to family trips and I don't mean business hotels - this is the case for major chains like Prince. That market is a key to dynamic tourist destinations. Go to New York City and you will see extended families from all over the world exploring around. In Japan you mostly see couples on vacation.
Posted in: Why do tourists continue to stay away from Japan, despite the fact that there are many places of interest far away from the crisis-affected areas? What should Japanese tourism officials do to promote Japan as a safe destination?

Ron Paul is a phony. He actually adds earmarks (Aka "pork") to bills that he knows will pass and then votes "No" so that he can maintain his pure image with the fringe groups that lionize him.

WilliB- Kyodo News reported on March 23rd that, "Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Wednesday it has observed a neutron beam, a kind of radioactive ray, 13 times on the premises of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant after it was crippled by the massive March 11 quake-tsunami disaster."

For the living, the distinction between semi-auto and full auto firearms has already already made in firearm laws and the applicable restrictions on ownership.

If you are being shot at it doesn't really matter if it is an M16 machine gun or a semi-auto AR-15. This insistence that a distinction be made is ridiculous. The Dutch media is explicitly stating that it was a "fully automatic rifle". If you have evidence that it wasn't, other than your "guess", than provide it. And then coherently state what difference it would make to the dead.

Interesting how no one in the Socialist Workers’ Party actually works and you find anarchists protesting less government spending.

There is a disconnect in the message of those who hail the sacrifice of the "Fukushima 50" for their efforts to save Eastern Japan and their simulataneous insistence that the nuclear issue is being blown out of proportion by the "Western media". Are the F-50 dying for nothing?

Very odd since the only hysteria and panic behavior regarding radiation is from the foreign press....right?

Michael Moore is a hyocrite. He didn't even offer health insurance to those working for his production company.
Reading comments on this story, it seems that many people don't even realize what the Wisconsin story is about. The public workers are NOT going to be stripped of their benefits. Those benefits will just now not be subject to union bargaining. This is the current situation of Federal workers. Apparently even Obama didn't realize this as he criticized Governor Walker. Jimmy Carter stripped Federal workers of their collective bargaining rights back in the 1970's. If Obama thinks what Walker wants to do is so bad, why didn't he do anything about the workers on his side of the house? Sadly, it seems that he was just ignorant of that fact.

The violence will continue regardless of any changes in U.S. drug policy. The cartels each aim to be the "plaza boss" controlling all crime in the territory. That is why they are currently involved in all kinds of crime from stealing oil to extorting poor women selling used clothes at flea markets.

Bradley Whitfield was the celebrity of note at Saturday's protest? What, was Ed Begley, Jr. unavailable? The star wattage is blinding. Rumor has it that Ed Asner will make an appearance.
The unions have miscalculated on this one. Collective bargaining rights have no place in government employment. Even FDR warned against this. For union employees at private employers, fine. But the unions have helped drive many States and local governments towards bankruptcy with ridiculous wage and benefit packages.
Does anyone really think that these State public employees are sacrificing anything with their public employment? Federal employees do not have collective bargaining rights on wages and benefits. Why should they?

It often seems like those who blame drug users for the evil actions of the drug cartels are the same people who simultaneously blame cigarette companies instead of smokers and gun dealers instead of criminals.

Today while events unfolded in Egypt and national security staff met in the White House, President Obama attended his daughter's basketball game. But any detrimental turn in the crisis will be blamed on Bush, so why worry if this president is up to the tasks of the office he holds?

My advice to guys attending weddings of Japanese in-laws and who will appear in the formal group family picture is don't smile. Despite your spouse's assurance that she will be smiling as will others, when the picture is developed you will be the only one.

The work now is to keep pressure on the other cartels to prevent them from taking advantage of La Familia's demise. A worrisome trend is the expansion of Mexican cartel activities to Australia. The Sinaloa cartel has taken control of cocaine trafficking there. Mexico may never be free of the cartels, but Colombia offers an example of how their power and control can be reduced.
