Because there was a sighting of these spiders near by, my child who is in Elementary school was told not to stick their hands behind vending machines or other dark damp places... oh really.

At 80 he still wants power??? Amazing. I hope the people chooses his retirement over this comeback to parliament.

alliswellinjapan, here you go. Source is the same, but that's yahoo. This news came out 8 o'clock yesterday evening, so I am guessing all the major newspapers missed the timing.

Farmboy, I agree.
If it was superboy or superman's cousin or some other spinoff, I wouldn't care, but original plots should probably be left asis. Especially something as obvious as superman's profession. Come to think of it, spidy is a teenager now and batman is more of a lunatic than a hero, so I guess we have to adapt.

How about children's Eikaiwa schools? Do any of you have experience in those? They must be a different world with mommies watching your every move!
I experienced teaching in a class for junior high school kids. They expected classes by the book and nothing more because it will "get in the way" of their exam studies. What a bore!

The amenities, free internet and free japanese breakfast (at some business hotels) are what I like about these low budget hotels. I haven't found any for 3,000 yen, but they are usually below 7,000 yen.

Oops, according to wikipedia, I could become one of them. I can find 4 out of the 6 items on the first list in my house. Old magazines, things for crafts, clothes that I might wear some day and those freebies...!

Yasukuni, if you're going to do it please do it in Japanese. And at the same time, maybe add "Your child is happier alive than dead!"

I think the idea is to cut cost, rather than speeding up the process of ordering. Those menus at the counter needs to be reprinted everytime they have a new kid's menu, so I guess thats a total waste.
I agree that this isn't customer friendly, but if they have leaflet style menus at the counter, I think that will be good enough for me. I try to order the value sets on the "Kazasu Coupon(mobile)", so my choice is rather limited anyway.

I still can't really get over this traumatic incident not because I was directly involved in a life or death situation but because there has been many changes in life and the people around me owing to this disaster. Compared to these people, my experience was probably nothing, but still, it has been pretty difficult. I will surely want to see this documentary, but if I'm going to find myself wiping tears before the opening scene, I may decide not to see it in public...

I have read many news of the reconstruction of the cities in Tohoku. Both the authorities and the people are suffering because they are trying to make everybody happy and not make a hasty decision in reconstructing the devastated cities. At some point, they have to meet halfway on everything. I hope they come to that soon.

One simple question. If they had the time and money (!) to transport cash by helicopter, how come they didn't send the batteries with it? Really... (sigh).

Tizalleyman, in normal cases yes, but these amenities could have very well been stolen by some third person. It may be almost impossible to blame it on anybody else, but unless this couple was caught in the act, or as this case found in possesion of the stolen goods, I would think they could deny payment on their credit card.

I don't think you can charge anything on someone's credit card without the owner's concent, can you? They will simply just refuse to pay for it.
As for bathrobes and ash trays, these are minor items but they can very well turn into more valuable things. I heard that TVs are stolen from hotels in various parts of the world since nowadays it's flat and easier to fit in suitcases.

Frungy, so, where is the technology now? Can we see it? I think the point here is the part about "inexpensive cameras" being used. I don't know if anything useful will come out of this, but at least they are trying.

I don't know how it was in previous years, but I hear that autumn is a bit late this year becuase of the summer heat. Still, yes it's far too early for christmas lights. The leaves are still very green!

I wonder because there are so many problems that I can think of having a child without proper treatment, yet we have never heard of mothers hospitalized or dead because of such incident. So, these must be perfectly healthy people (physically, not mentally as you said), which wouldn't explain the usual excuse of still birth.
I don't think you will be reading this after all this time, but it's just my mind wandering...
