I very much support it. I have a lot of friends with a wide diversity of religions and I find that just saying Happy Holidays is a great way to include everyone into the season without drawing in the religious debate. Although most of my friends wouldn't really care if I said "Christmas" or "Holiday" as it is a general gesture. But I still do it out of good measure (and I am not Christian).

Being silent. There is nothing more annoying than having a one sided conversation because the guy/girl is nervous. And bringing up your bad history on the first date. Unless you are talking about something that relates to the past, don't overwhelm the person on the first date with information!

I agree with noborito. People will just find alternatives as the price goes up. People are willing to pay a lot for a fresh morning latte-but not so much when other deals for equally good coffee are available.
