Now that all of the tea partiers are all about balancing the budget, I wonder how they feel about old "saint ronnie?"

The debt held by the public climbed on his watch—from $712 billion in 1980 to $2 trillion in 1988, and he never presented a balanced budget to Congress during his eight years in office.

reagan is so incredibly over-rated as a president.

I really hate this white crap. Can't wait for Spring.

Unless I'm skiing on it, I have no use for it either. I'm with you, bring on the cherry blossoms!

I was just watching CNN and they showed a lot of disturbing footage. First of all, Anderson Cooper was assaulted and claims to have been punched in the head ten times by pro-Mubarak supporters. Then they showed a police van speeding through an area of protesters. It ran down two men without slowing down.

I had hoped the military would not be needed because I think they are in a no-win situation, in my opinion. But, with the Mubarak side getting more violent, I think the military has no choice but to intervene and yes, use force to maintain order.

I'm so happy to hear that no one was killed by this cyclone.

And a baby was born to boot. Beautiful.

Cyclones and hurricanes are not uncommon either

Yes, but we are experiencing more powerful cyclones than we have in the past.

But don't believe me, I was only a weather forecaster for 14 and a half years. I'm sure your experience and knowledge on tropical weather and convective severe weather puts mine to shame.

What does the term, "biggest storm in DECADES" mean to you?

What it means to me is that we are experiencing more severe weather and will continue to do so.

Cyclones and hurricanes are not uncommon either

I met a guy who did something similar once. He paid highschool girls for their panties and sold them in vending machines. He said that he lost money on the deal because he had to pay the girls so much for their panties but where he made the money back is making porno movies with the girls who came back to him for repeat business. I wouldn't doubt if the same thing wasn't happening here.

Biggest storm in decades hits the U.S. Biggest cyclone in decades hits Australia and still people want to keep their heads in the sand about Global Warming and Climate Change. How they can be so short-sighted and naive is beyond me.

    Is ignorance blissful?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Australia, especially those in Cairns. I wish you all the best.

Smitty, Yes, technically, cyclones in the IO and Southern WP are cyclones but I was told the Aussies refer to them as Willy-willies. Someone here may have to correct me if I am wrong.

It's also kind of funny that the govt. would tell people to head south. If the storm changes track, it will curve southward. Unfortunately, there's just nowhere north to go.

When I was in the Navy, a cyclone hit Cairns 4 times. It kept regenerating.

The rest of the Navy went south and got hammered. I recommended that we go north, toward the Equator and we were fine (cyclones cannot last close to the equator due to a lack of coriolis effect).

I guess this was really the only logical choice to make. You can't have Mubarak stay, but you can't have the country throw itself into chaos. By backing Mubarak the military might be betting that they can buy some time which would be good to plan out some kind of transition.

Do you think the people will wait another 8 months though? I agree with what you are saying but the people of Egypt are probably far less patient about the subject than you and I.

I would have rather seen the military stay out of it, as they had up to now but I guess it wouldn't hurt to have them providing security against the goons that have been trying to upset the uprising.

As long as the republicans focus solely on undoing what President Obama has done, such as HCR, instead of focusing on jobs, the lesser there chance to remain in power after the next election.

How can they be so out of touch?

    Damn, hatred makes people pigeon-holed.

Murbarak just stated that he will not run for re-election in September. I doubt that will be enough for the protesters. They have come too far and are too organized. I think Murbarak has to go before they disperse.

Here she was, given a golden opportunity to shine and to be a leader and palin chose to take the low road. How shocking.

It was right there for the taking sarah. All you had to do is say that it's time to put the nation-dividing rhetoric that has turned a little too incendiary and put it behind us as a nation.

Instead, it was a "me" fest and a pity party. Crimeny, how ANYONE can admire this...thing is beyond me.

    I prefer cancer to her.

Heh, the left's shriek that Loughner is a "tea party fundraising tool" is falling apart pretty quickly

    Or not.

    > The Tea Party Express, a California-based conservative political action committee, sent out a letter to supporters Monday requesting donations in reaction to Saturday’s shooting at a political event in Tucson, Arizona that claimed six lives.

“It is quite clear that liberals are trying to exploit this shooting for their own political benefit, and they used deception and dishonesty to try and smear all of us and our beliefs,” the letter reads. “You know what the truth is? The truth is that the shooter, Jared Loughner is the one responsible for this atrocity. But liberals are trying to place the blame on society for embracing the tea party movement.”

The letter makes the case that the Tea Party movement has nothing to do with the alleged gunman, 22-year-old Jared Loughner. The weekend shooting sparked accusations from liberal groups and pundits that he was motivated by the rhetoric from Tea Party members, although authorities say Loughner acted alone and was not part of a larger movement.

“We have nothing to do with this awful, tragic event in Arizona,” the letter reads.

The group, which helped fund the Republican primary campaigns of Joe Miller in Alaska, Christine O’Donnell in Delaware and Sharron Angle in Nevada, ended the letter with a request for donations.

“We’re taking our country back through the ballot box and in the public square – through peaceful means,” the letter reads. “And we will prevail, because our ideas and ideals are stronger than the scare/smear/defame tactics of the leftists we face. We ask you to please stand with the Tea Party Express and show your support for our efforts. You can make a contribution online right now to the Tea Party Express – CLICK HERE TO CONTRIBUTE.”

Stay classy and incorrect tea party.

if only because all the violence seems to be coming from those the left.

I love this argument. It's like the george bush defense argument. Except for that one time when he really dropped the ball, he kept us safe from terrorism.

Except for this one staring us in the face, all the violence (and voices in my head) are coming from the left.

Right. No specifics mind you like I provided. Nope, we just have to take your word and michelle malkin's word for it. I'll trust the Secret Service over that hate monger any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

This would make a really good JapanToday poll.

Do you think right-wing rhetoric inspires violent behavior?

    1) Definitely

    2) Possibly

    3) No more than left-wing rhetoric

    4) Not at all.
