He's a "great" player in Japan; that does not translate over to MLB. In Japan he only faces a few good hitters on each team -- the rest are cream cakes. In the US is will face 5 or 6 really good hitters on each team. I wish him luck if Texas does eventually sign him...

This guy is no Derek Jetter; $2.5M is a fair wage for an average player. The WBC (aka the pro wrestling of baseball) is no indication how he would do in a real game. Luckily the Yankees have returned to sanity by placing a low-ball bid on Darvish and playing hardball negotiations with Nakajima.

Depends on the job; pretty hard to do manual labor after 60, although many still do. Office workers should be allowed to stay until 65; technical fields, too, especially where accumulated knowledge is benificial to the company. Due to the bad economy here in Japan, just about everyone is put out to pasture at 60. I was the only one of a group of 24 who turned 60 this past July at our company who was allowed to stay only because they looked for a year for a replacement with no success...

Lets see, these two want to lead a peaceful life and not be a burden to anyone, but the government says NO. On the other hand B. Hussein Obama's aunt and uncle are also both here illiegally with the aunt freeloading off society and the government says YES...

Excluding Ichiro and Matsui to a lesser extend (in his prime) a .329 career average here in Japan probably translates to a .270 hitter in MLB...

"Konishiki, who is now a popular television personality in Japan, said on his blog Thursday that he was trying to protect his wife."

I think using the word "popular" in this sentence is a real stretch. I haven't seen him on TV in over a year and when he is on TV he's just stuffing food in his fat face...

That's a little harsh, I liked watching Masui play for the Yankees. Then again and living room coach has the benefit of making their point without backing it up. Well, it looks like yagura backed up my statement. Other than Matsui and Ichiro all the others are forgetable.

Davish's posting fee plus what he will want in salary (probably a 10 year contract like Matsuzaka) will cost a team 100 million dollars. He's probably worth half that at best since he is totally unproven in the majors. And don't say how great he did in the World Baseball Classic or whatever. All the American players were probably hungover or exhausted from the non-stop baseball groupies they had to "entertain."

That's strange. The Yankees stated last week they are not interested. With the posting system Darvish is way overpriced. He may by great in Japan, but that does not translate to the majors where "real" baseball is played. Here its just salarymen in uniforms...

No conspiracy, but why was our entire carrier fleet (7) positioned in a very odd location, leaving only circa WWI rust buckets at Pearl?

To suppress the value of the yen the government is using taxpayer's money (most of who do not work for, or influenced by export-related industries) to make higher profits for the exporting companies, so they can squander away the money like Olympus...

Atrocities? Like PEPFAR? Check the link http://www.avert.org/hiv-aids-africa.htm Seems like Bush did a lot more than AI in fighting AIDS in Africa, so if they arrest anyone, it should be those self-righteous idiots at Amnesty International.

They have the hardware, doesn't mean they no how to use it. Japanese quickly forget their military past -- tactics and strategy are 80% of the game. Further, China may have a huge military, but its needed to keep the boots on the necks of one billion peasants...

I'd like to see an itemized list of what the government is going to "rebuild" since I fear most of the money will just disappear like the current 5% consumption tax.
