  MS killed Hotmail many, many years ago. I was a Hotmail user before MS bought it, and afterwards it just went downhill.

  it's up to parents to teach their children right from wrong, and provide them with adequate discipline and love

  When dentists told me "You don't necessarily need to quit smoking. You could just cut down a little" I knew they were full of it. Such pre-1964 thinking is highly irresponsible and dangerous.

  I don't get tissues handed to me often. Those I have gotten in the past were either for contacts or for eikiawa.

  Years ago I was given a plastic bag with a thick booklet inside by a smiling young girl. Turned out to be a guide to the city's brothels. Had to quickly find a bicycle basket to throw it into.

  JHS graduations are coming up soon .. I'll bet it was some kids from the graduating class just trying to cause trouble. I have heard stories of teachers sleeping on school premises the night before graduation to keep kids from trashing the gym overnight.

  It is very much a society in which you reap what you sow: by putting in the effort, you are recognized by those around you, which in turn encourages further individual growth. It is perhaps this social bond of solidarity that helped many a Japanese person overcome the devastation of the most recent great earthquake, where through the help and kindness of those around them many were able to rebuild, to some degree, their previous lives.

  The Chinese had this to say about Japan? You cannot be serious.

  Coming from a place that used to be blanketed in snow and now living in a city that barely gets any, I miss it. I wouldn't mind shoveling lots of it: the beer'll taste better at the end of the day.
