NTT does have English support. Or at least it did a few years ago when I had the misfortune of talking to them. Very uppity, very rude and totally unhelpful.

Atsuta Shrine is nice, but I wouldn't plan to visit it and nothing else. I especially wouldn't go around New Years as the entire prefecture is there and one can barely move.
Shriotorien is right near by and well worth the 300 yen to get in.

A few years ago I went through security at JFK. A voluptuous girl in a tank top and jeans standing in front of me, immediately got the attention of three TSAs. They told her to take her shoes off, then belt, and made her walk through the metal detector three times ... all the while they looked her up and down grinning and salivating.
"You guys sure love your job, don't you?" I said. "No, no. It's all in the name of security." They smirked.

Japanese trends take far less than a decade to go out of style. That totally un-funny "GETS!" thing was in and out in about 1 year. The term "K.Y." is no longer used, that was around for what, 2 years?
