I see nothing in the article that was not covered in the "Global Diversity" and "Self Assertivness" courses I took some 20yrs ago.

Seems to be more of an ad for the company than anything else.

Yeah, sure I know so little that I am going for the Instructors licence next month. NAUI not PADI.

And if you knew your licences you would know that it takes more than just Open water 1 to be able to take it.

But go head thinking that diving is such a safe sport, heck sky-diving is ranked safer than scuba.

    Great advise.

Try that in the UK, etc where most bullies carry switch-blade knifes, etc. Heck even 30yrs ago carrying a knife was common.

And guess what, the first you know about the knife is when it sticks in your guts. Or how about sharpened bicycle spoke, chains, sharpened coins, etc.

Guess most of the guys that give the advise of standing up never grew up in a rough neighbourbood.

    Just my view.

    Info missing from above article:

According to the MPD, the three men attempted to jam the propeller of the Kaiko Maru with a rope on Feb. 12 last year.

    More in other news sources.

Why is only one out of 8 people named. Is he something special?

No one is forcing you to honour them.

Don't know of any person that was forced to visit yasukuni by someone else holding a sword/knife/gun to them.

Heck my japanese wife is afraid to visit it too.

I don't think it will get hostile. Atleast not from what I get from my contacts there who have been my clients for 10+yrs.

    Darwin candidates.

Scuba/snorkeling is one of the most dangerous past-times out there, want to make it more dangerous by listening to music.

Can't think of any guy doing scuba that want to get distracted either.

Said that some fan-films had some of the best jokers.

    aka Batman Dead end, etc.

I voted you can't compare them.

    Why, for a few reasons.

For one they are product of the generation/time they represented. Look at Star Wars how many youngsters prefer the new trilogy over the original one, etc.

Plus, the actors get their cues from the producers/directors and thus are represent a vision of theirs.

We can't compare them as they represent different cultures/view-points.

    Example:

I am an agnostic. In short I don't accept any god as a higher authority, in the same vein I don't believe in the concept of hell/devil as it is tied to the same religion that accepts/supports a god.

So if I don't believe/accept god how can I believe/worship the devil which comes from the same religion.

I neither deny nor accept god, till I got evidence that he exists or don't.

Hmm, considering that being an atheist is now an accepted religion in the states(only country that recognizes atheism as a religion) I don't think you will get an accurate answer.

Same way that many americans think that being agnostic = atheism, etc.

    IMHO, you can't eradicate bullying.

Yeah you can control/ban it at schools it just moves to non-school areas, playgrounds, etc. Who looks after the kids to prevent bullying once the pass the school-gates, etc.

Yes, standing up to a bully might work but if he has peers that are behind him you might be in a LOT of trouble. Any action you take will be 50/50 at best.

I told my son if he gets bullied to shrug it off but tell me, worked so far. A few times I confronted the bullies and told them if they repeat it they will face me, their parents, school officials and cops if he gets injured.

Most parents are NOT aware that their kids are bullies and thus cannot take action.

One guy bullied my son a few meters away from me on the way home from school, he changed his tune quickly when I stepped in and dialed his parents number. Yeah, a few of his buddies tried to confront me, saying it is the norm for 6th-graders to tease 1st graders. Didn't work and I told them if they do it again they will face me mano-o-mano as a group.

What the child needs to know is that he got the support from his folks, he cant sort it all himself but he needs to know who to go to.

As a parent approach the bullies parent and let them know what is happening and the consequences if it continues.

    Just my view.

    Forgot to add.

When I still worked in IT, our mainframes were all build by Fujitsu but sold under names like Siemens, Amdahl, IBM, etc. Same with Network-controllers, Cartridge drives, etc.

They just put on a different casing and change the micro-code(language) a bit.

It is all the same when it comes down to the bare bones.

This is not just in japan but a global thing.

Try buying electronics in europe, it all comes from a few factories they just slap a different logo on the casing. I remember my folks buying a Video-Camera, they looked at 10 different makers and all offered the SAME Camera just different casing colours and different prices.

LaCoste, Moby Dick, etc get their fashion made in the same factory that also supplies no-name brands, same quality you pay for the name NOT the product.

    Sad but true.

I checked the TOEI site and the film was recently broadcast on the TOEI channel, might try to catch it when it comes around again next week.

Sounds interesting, I like films that were done in a co-effort between Japan and other countries.

Articles like this make me wonder if the USA really has separation between church and state.

A candidate should NOT target specific religious, racial, etc groups.

    Just my view.
