According to the ruling on November 26, the woman was raped by the serviceman after he got into her car in a car park in Yokosuka as she "left a bar in the early hours" of April 6, 2002.
She sustained injuries to her legs and chest that took about a week to heal.
The ruling determined that her statements throughout, and actions taken after the rape, were consistent.
It said the fact that no process for indictment had been undertaken did not affect the court's acknowledgement that she was raped.
The court rejected the serviceman's claim, saying his statements that they had consensual sex were unreasonable and not credible.
The Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office's Yokosuka branch decided against indicting the serviceman in July 2002.
The US Navy in October the same year came to the conclusion that a court-martial was not necessary.
This guy left japan, and was discharged from the military.

you just don't hear about this anywhere else., 8 hour cab fare? seriously...the taxi driver should have asked for money prior to even taken the damn trip. Like another poster stated, reminds me of splash, but in this case; the kid was not tom hanks or had money. Luckily, they arrest people in japan for not paying cab fare, taxi driver will make out regardless.

Don't think he meant to run her over, that's partially her fault for grabbing the door while the truck was in motion.

It was kind of funny while i was walking to the trainstation last evening, half the people in the protest weren't even speaking, just walking like zombie's. There was one guy who caught my wife and my attention. He was yelling at the top of his old man lungs, "GO HOME AMERICA, GEORGE WASHINGTON GO HOME, GO HOME YANKEE!", funny thing...I've seen this guy when the base opens its gates, coming on eating and drinking with the rest of us.....so funny.

Yeah not that many people out protesting, they have several scheduled. They are coming in groups, its not going to make a bit of difference. More people means more money for the area stores and business's, we pray that they are responsible adults, but you know there are bad apples in every family. One doesn't make it all....remember that to alot of the anti-us posters here.

Has nothing to do with him being a serviceman. It has to do with him being an idiot! Leave the military out of your comments and comment on the individual.

Highlight: The olympics itself. Chance for everyone to get together and just compete in as the best in their specific event for their countries.
Low: The sore losers, the guy who tossed his medal down on the floor, the fans not respecting the winners of other countries, the guy who kicked at the ref, the one-sided judging, the murder of a vistor, the arrest of reporters report protest, so many lows...but the highs were the best. I love the Olympics!!
