Yeah, I hear that argument about how Buddhism not being a religion a lot. It certainly has all the trappings of a religion. I guess it depends on how you define religion. A way of life? Hmmm...quite a lot of latitude in how this life can be led judging from those who claim to be Buddhists.

True. From looking at a map, if you were to apply the U.S. recommended evacuation zone of 80km, most of the farming land in Fukushima would be included. From what I can tell, the flat area from roughly Aizuwakamatsu to Kitakata is the only place outside this area. Probably, produce from this area is relatively safe, however, I wonder if a distinction is being made among the Fukushima produce being sold. Anyway, I'm following the "better safe than even a tiny bit sorry" rule on this one.

Sorry, not buying any produce advertised as, "Safe enough to consume." This is TEPCO's problem, they should be compensating these farmers for every last yen in lost sales. People should feel absolutely no obligation to help out these farmers in this way--buying their contaminated produce.
I'm curious, though, let's say some produce that's over the govt.-set level of radiation makes it through to shelves (and you know it will); can that produce contaminate other safe produce by touching or being near it? Can it contaminate the actual shelves of the display case? Shopping baskets?

I you have a choice, should you eat food with more radiation or that with less?
If you have plenty of non-irradiated food to choose from in your area, wouldn't avoiding all food from suspect prefectures be a wiser course of action?
We live in a world of radiation, but shouldn't people be aware of the difference between radiation and ionizing radiation?
Isn't being overly concerned and slightly paranoid about potential threats a natural human reaction that helps protect ourselves?

Nice gesture, but opening up the Palace in Tokyo to as many refugees as it can handle would be even better.

It's all about oil. NATO is getting ready to invade. SAS an U.S. special forces are on the ground already. U.S. warships are moving through the Suez Canal. This invasion for control of oil is all being done under the guise of some trumped up humanitarian "relief" effort.

And then their is conspiracy reality.
"The NFSL was part of the National Conference for the Libyan Opposition held in London in 2005, and British resources are being used to support the NFSL and other 'opposition' in Libya. The NFSL was actually formed in October 1981 in Sudan under Colonel Jaafar Nimieri-- the US puppet dictator who was openly known to be a Central Intelligence Agency operative, and who ruled Sudan ruthlessly from 1977 to 1985. The NFSL held its national congress in the USA in July 2007. Reports of 'atrocities' and civilian deaths are being channeled into the western press from operations in Washington DC, and the opposition NFSL is reportedly organizing resistance and military attacks from both inside and outside Libya.
Italy and France are also said to be backing these opposition groups, as the Italian and French oil companies AGIP and ELF and others seek to chop off and eat their pieces of the predatory pie. The US, Britain and Israel seek to insure control of the petroleum sector in advance of competitor corporations from other European countries."

These "rebels" are U.S. spook agency-backed thugs. Not to say the Gadhafi side is much better--it's pretty much a lose/lose situation for your average Libyan. Remember: Just because the other side is bad doesn't make your side good.
