Was just watching "GPS (Global Public Square)" with Fareed Zakaria on Gun Control in the U.S. and the lack thereof. His show illustrated how difficult it was to get a gun in Japan and what all one has to go through to obtain a permit. He stated that Japan has the strictest gun control in the world and that when it comes to guns, Japan is among the safest countries in the world. And now this. Wow! Shock!

He will get the best trial possible and should be thankful he is not being tried in the United States. He will be much better off in a Japanese prison. As for fairness, it wasn't fair for her to have her life taken away. Sad all around.

She has an attitude toward life. Ya think so? Wow...but so sad. She really should be tried as an adult. I think she knew what she was doing.

Folks, Geocaching is much better. In Geocaching, you are actually searching for real objects cleverly hidden in which you have to use hints, clues, and your geosense to find it. Many of these caches also include little trinkets that can be traded and also includes trackable coins and trinkets that travel the world. Great for kids and even the "geopet".

Dang! But yes, truck drivers here in Japan (here in Okinawa especially) are maniacs. Very aggressive and totally rude. Take note, truck drivers!

This is similar to Geocaching except that in Geocaching you are actually looking for a real treasure that can be as small as a thumbnail or as large as an ammo can. Inside the larger geocaches are little trinkets that you can exchange and also included are trackable coins and toys that keep traveling around the world. In Geocaching you can use a dedicated handheld GPSr or a smartphone if you have the Geocaching app installed on it. Geocaching seems much more fun since you are actually looking for real objects based on clues and using your "geo senses". There have never been any malicious acts with Geocaching whereby it seems it is happening with Pokemon Go. Not sure what to think of this. Stay safe.

Few people know that the two cool spots in all of Japan during the long hot summers are Hokkaido and Okinawa. Yes, Okinawa! It may climb to 33 on the main island of Okinawa and 35 on Ishigaki. That's about the max it gets here. Then we have nice ocean breezes which mainland Japan does not have. Stay cool peeps!

"He also had Japanese residency".
"He also had Japanese residency".
I don't see how he could have been under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) and have "Japanese Residency". He had a residence in Japan but I don't think he had "Japanese Residence Status". That would mean he was a "Resident Card Holder" which cannot happen if he has SOFA status. They are apples and oranges.

He should be lucky to be sent to a Japanese prison. No rapes, no abuse, just discipline. In the U.S., he would be forced to get married to "Bubba". This is really true. Still, makes us all look bad.

I pulled a muscle laughing! Oh this is funny! However, it would not have been funny had they boarded the airplane intoxicated. Very irresponsible men.

According to what Donald Trump says, if he is elected President, he will hold talks with Kim of the DPRK and then this will be defused. Kim so much likes Donald. If, however, he is not elected President, then things may just go downhill from here. See what happens.

As pleased as I am that he is leaving, at least he didn't have a crying tantrum like that other dude. Yes, he should go. Misuse of funds and/or government resources is just wrong. Enjoy your retirement.

They can start by eliminating the so-accepted fact that "kanchoing" is funny. I teach at an elementary school and have so for several years and have been kanchoed many times. It is not funny. In western countries children are taught to keep their hands to themselves but in somehow in Japan it is considered funny to jab your fingers into the anus of someone sometimes striking slightly too low and jabbing the testicles of a man. Very painful. Teachers never take it serious when it is reported. So with that in mind - chikan will not be solved and will continue for many years to come. It's time Japan gets in line with the western world.

Wow, I remember the incident but didn't realize he received a life-sentence. U.S. government should have paid promptly for damages. Looks like a good chance after all Mr. Shinzato will also serve a life-sentence but that will remain to be seen. Wonder how the local case here will be handled in comparison with the Yokohama case. So sad on all sides.

Another sad driving day. And someone has to explain to that teacher's children that their teacher is dead. Very sad day in that school too. Wow! Drunk drivers. When will they ever learn?

Not too much will happen to the 15 year old girl. She is a minor and will only spend some time in juvie and then be released to her father. If this were the United States, she would probably be tried as an adult. Very sad story and a horrific way to die. Sad.

So now it will really be a "Canadian High"! How ironic with a name like: Canada will take steps next year to legalize marijuana, Health Minister Jane Philpott announced on Wednesday. Good news me thinks.
