You know the middle defense is a must , We look at N. Korea, yeah could be a threat at some point but I really do not see them as being one at this time because they could be completely annihilated in an instant and they know that, but as Russia complains about the US and its positioning of weapons, or missile defense systems, and this affecting the balance of power, what does the ex soviet regions have as a comfort zone from Russia and any aggression from it?. Someone mentioned at one point who China would side with in any of these events and I believe we all know the answer to that since China considers Taiwan as a break away province and if they would show any non-support of Russia with these breakaway ex-soviet states, would be the same as shooting oneself in the foot. But with that said, we have seen Russia supplying China with all kinds of advance military weaponry over the years and China itself building their own weapon systems as well, so if there is any imbalance here it is also very widely and directly coming from Russia and its new modernization of its military and especially added to all of this is their buddy buddy China, and we are suppose to sit back and let that go unchecked??? Russia rhetoric should be seen as just that.”RETORIC”... since their friend and neighbor to their north is going farther and faster beyond even Russia as a threat to the world.. US needs to go forward full force with all operations that will give ourselves and our allies a upper hand which has been the principle position we have always stood on from the beginning when approaching national security, so why change that now and become that of something less and at the same time putting our friends and allies at a disadvantage as well such as we are definitely witnessing with Georgia and the rest of the Baltic Republics that are looking into the gun barrel of Russia and at the same time China is quietly building to the max, Russia friend in solidifying power of the leaders, and leaders that are side by side with militaries on the expansion. No way should US stop in any way the progression of national defense. I am sure Russia would love to see us ignore the facts and so would China. Seems our weakness is already showing with Russia going about their business without having to consider any repercussions from the Western allies of Georgia. This tells the whole truth of the situation at hand and why Russia has gained the concessions it has with this truce, because no one can or will do anything about it that threatens Russia. These countries are going to have to build defense systems to counter any Russian aggression and that is going to have to happen soon in the future. At least that is my Opinion. :)

LIB Georgia is a democracy, threatening no one in the area, It has its borders and elected leader. Russia has no right to do or enforce anything within Georgia's borders. Plain and simple. All Russia has done is provoked and supported all that is happening in Georgia since the president was elected in Georgia. This is nothing to do with or compared with Iraq that was under some dictator suppressing the people as the UN security council kept adding more and more restrictions on all that was going, entering and leaving, transactions in Iraq which even brought more hardships to the people as Hussien lived in his many palaces.. Completely different scenario.. Not too hard to see the differences in this situation than that one.. But of course there are those like yourself that will impose upon any topic someone's right to do as they please when trying to talk down US and use that as an issue to make someone else's wrongs , right.. Just plain gibberish and tisk for task attitude. But hey, propaganda is fine, just ask China or yes even the Bush administration. But conditions of both issues has no connection or relevance of one another what so ever.

So Sea.. you are actually saying they took cute over talent.. Still wrong np matter how you look at it.
It is a shame this goes on. especially involving little kids at that.
One positive, is it was found out by the world public and the original talent was exposed. :) But another bit of dirt in China's face.

As I have stated and the point being. China has belittled its people just for the sake of the governments own hold on power. This is just an example of that.

Blaze have you ever heard of engagement??? When China was this closed isolated country, you tell me who made the incentive to approach China and start negotiations which brought the country out of its isolation from the world. You can give the facts to a kindergardner and they can figure that out.

Presto .. the games has went well in show and presentation of the games, no doubt, except of course some of the controversial judging which happens in all Olympics, but what is show and what is underlying truth are two different things. You can praise what you see but none should be blind to what is not seen and covered up . I find that very tragic not just for those outside of China but especially for the Chinese people. If we stood on all that nonsense then China would be no where were it is today because they would have had no incentive to make changes now or in the past, and the losers would be everyone including mainly the people of China. Not everything is so simplistic. or black and white.

stand against what China did with this and find no excuses to make it right. Those that do can kiss my butt.....as they kiss the butts of the CCP and organizers with the mentality formed by such rule. Atleast the truth is out and just shows China's deceitful ways that are of a common occurrence of that country. Also this falls in line with the notorious treatment and degrading the government places on all its citizens, as they are used like dogs, thrown a bone every once in a while to make them think they have some sort of value. To bad this time they took the bone back..
Just my opinion.

No one wants to let go of something they once controlled. As for Russia and its energy supplies, they better take advantage of it while they can because the world will compose itself from those with energy supplies and use that as the forceful hand in which they base decisions on, especially decisions made that goes against the basic rights and freedoms of others. Russia has developed into such a governing state as for, cutting off supplies to its neighbors and now with this excessive force against Georgia, The world is trying to set the future for alternative fuels and many nations will have enough of its own oil reserves once all is taken off total reliance on oil as the only energy source, Even if Russia holds this as its ace in the hole, they will not have this advantage forever, same with Venezuela’s rise from their economic gains from their oil. All the craziness from Hugo Chávez and rants and crazy exaggerated statements outward towards the US, this seems to be in character with the appearance of Russia over the last few years. We have seen both of these countries find themselves a sudden rise in power from their energy sources and begin this outward approach towards others with an attitude lased with threats and aggression. Now Russia has shown how wealth can change the demeanor of how they treat their one time adversaries and take an opposite approach to issues where at one time would have taken a softer approach.. The disadvantages and advantages of wealth and the use of ones power, but again this falls in line with individuals as well..
But as to some of the comments above,,,as much as one does not like the actions of the US, Those of you that wish to condemn the actions of the US, this does not and should not be used as an excuse for others to perform actions against another. Do you believe because US attacked Iraq, that this gives Russia a reason to invade Georgia?? This is what you are implying and I find that something like a child’s argument! So Russia has the right because we did it, and besides, this is against a country based on democracy which no matter what, we should support, and if you can not bring yourself to support democracy and the spread of democracy, and also support one of our allies, then go live in another country without such values or that are based on such values. I hear voices continually bashing the US here and who’s words seem to say that are from the US, if that is the case then you should stand for the values the US is based on in support of Georgia and its development and against what Russia is doing to them. Georgia has its boarders, the majority voted to go with the western alliances, and Russia is helping to divide the country. That is wrong no matter how anyone wants to compare it to how bad the US is and that they have the right to do what they have done. I say they don't.

As with any country, they should be able to go their own way as the majority rules. Russia should be condemned and world action taken against them as they have the ability to kill so many and seems to be doing just that. If Russia and its ally China wants to cohort with one another in pushing their power out then they should pay with decreased world interaction and squeezed byt he global powers, before they themselves are let to develope into global powers. China has grown and Russia has grown from outside interactions with them, this could be cut and both could be drawn directly to the feet of western powers. Neither of these two nations would be nothing without the west

dendychou. If any one and I would like to repeat, everyone that criticizes CHina, probably 99% is aimed at the leaders of China and not the people. If it was not for the people of China that has been so isolated by the Communists leaders over the years , other countries would have nothing to do with China to begin with. So do not take these criticisms too personal because they are not aimed at the people but mainly criticisms towards the leaders of China for the better good of you and the people. Which I believe has done much in the past to the present for the people of China with rights and openness. It is not a strange site to see every day Chinese citizens with white face masks on going about their daily lives. They were given these masks to wear at their own discretion and they wore them, I see no reason to say it was an embarrassment to anyone when the leaders of Beijing know very well the problem with the air quality there and also the people of China that makes it an everyday norm to wear the masks. Some day we will all witness the people of China having a say on all matters within China, Activist groups that the government will have to appease on issues just like with other free societies around the world,. Then we will see the qualities of many issues about China improve because the people will be able to demand it . Besides, with out pollution controls in place , these athletes arriving there have no idea what chemicals are in the air that they were getting off the plane to breath. I think that can be a litle worrying to anyone , easpecially well conditioned athletes

zurcronium Great post. I hope the prediction is right, I do not really like the gap in percentages between McCain and Obama closing.. This off shore drilling topic, I do not understand Obama not continually explaining the oil would go into the world market and have not much affect at all on oil prices and price of gas at the pump. I have heard this maybe one time but it is an issue that seems to be silent when it seems is very important when talking about the issue. It has become a topic of interest with McCain pushing it again and again when the benefits would be none except of course the oil industry and not for energy prices, and wondering if unless it could be made to kept right here at home for only domestic use, which I have not heard anything about that happening. But it seems the democrats have a very hard time exposing truths on topics and informing the public on the truth of any issue. Same with Kerry when the democratic nominee with them knocking him on Vietnam, not able to defend his stance at that time when the majority was against the political lead war in Vietnam and he could not find a way to defend himself on that??? I found his stance pathetic by not being able to shrug off such a strategy by the republicans.. Just how many was against that war and even with loosing it, how many was happy we were finally out of there and with Kerry’s help from his participation in events that finally raised public outcry to get the hell out of there, and he could not shrug off the allegations put against him.

betzee , are you from China, or just love the country. Any issue on China you take the China side even thoughh it is a country controlled by suppression of its people.. I do not care about its syle economy because the reason being is the ability to build its power it has always sacrficed all for to get, should I mention 10's of millions in the early 60's and 10's of thousands today that do not obide or tag along on the rule by suppression that end up in political reform camps, house arrests, and what ever.. this is the easy way for them to finally see the gains in world power and domination they have always dreamed of aquiring but the challenge is to the stability of their control on power within the country as they are forced on issues to continue their gains of being a world power which is why reports state the heavier clamp down on social freedoms to contain their grip of power.

Witha 32% approval rating at home he is lucky there are not protests 24 hours a day here at home. But it does show there is a small group here in the US that are the bad guys which is the 32%. hahaha

A lot of hype, let's just see what happens.. :) I am a little bias though. I do not want to see China go away with the highest total.. hahah
It seems to me it would just be fulfilling the CCP goal of trying to use the Olympics as a show of superiority as was stated earlier in reports of the mentality of the communist leadership, in line with Nazi Germany.. Why China has such mentality among its leaders?????? They have a long way to go to become a normal country seen from the outside.

Sarge and USpatriot,, take note…
New McCain add.. We are worse off than we were 4 years ago, Washington is broken...
Some here backing McCain says we are so well off now and prosperous since Bush has taken over..
What about it republican straight liners, right wingers…now what words do you support????? Bush,, or McCain?? You say everything is so well under Bush’s administration, but you support McCain that says it is not.. Wow what a dilemma , the brain cells must be smoking now.
We have Bush's you support with the economy and now you support McCain and he says you and Bush are are wrong!!!
As I said all Republican BS and those that blindly support any Republican leader.. even though both in the same party contradict each other..
That must put you guys in a real tizzy to where you actually do not no where you defecated last, as is common when one follows instead of leads with their own ideas and mindset.
